COVID is still around, still infecting people, still landing patients in ER and still affecting the health workers. I've seen an uptick in ER. Keep up with vaccines, masking works despite the ill-done Cochrane review and stay home if sick despite Ontarians lacking paid sick days

So let me get this straight: The Ontario government is okay with spending an average of $2.8 Billion/year on highways...but isn't okay with spending an average of just $5 Million/year on life-saving healthcare coverage for uninsured people?
Where is the humanity?

"Long Covid" is proving to be the latest, hugely difficult chapter in the #COVID19 saga. @DrFahadRazak, Dr. Raywat @deonandan, & Dr. Jennifer Frontera offer some advice for policymakers, tonight at 8/11pm on @TheAgenda on @tvo. #LongCovid #LongCovidrecovery

Hearing the Covid clinical assessment centre at Michael Garon Hospital will close Feb 26 due to a lack of funding from the Ontario MOH. This was one of the last places that performed pcr testing for ALL ages, and encouraged testing of school kids.
We need to keep it open.

The Covid bivalent vaccine booster works better than expected.

That's in contrast to a @NEJM essay today and 2 lab studies that used a pseudovirus assay without assessing the XBB variants

My child was hospitalized with #RSV at 1.5yo. My heart still heaves thinking about that awful, awful week. It hurts to think of all the families dealing with this now.
#WearAMask to keep all our dear ones safe - the littles & the old ones too. Is that really too much?

Parents cannot find antipyretics so fevers are persistent.
Seeing people with antibiotic prescriptions that cannot get filled showing up at emerg.
Total collapse is close.

Apparently "Died Suddenly" is trending, which means it's time to point out that COVID vaccines have saved tens of millions of lives worldwide, hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin STILL don't work against COVID, and Bitcoin is down by more than 50% YTD. Have a nice day.

Parents, please hear me. Please.
Pediatric hospitals are in an unprecedented capacity crisis. Possibly on the verge of avoidable child deaths.
Please don't let your kids share indoor air w/ others tonight. Just don't.
Extra candy, extra love. No parties.
Why?

France is the 1st country in Europe to see the BQ.1.1 variant dominance (>50%). So far, so good.
{Booster rate in France is 65%, US 41%)

If you are actually out here making excuses for why it's okay for any person to die (like because of an underlying condition), then you have certainly lost the plot.
The plot being, your humanity.

You may be frustrated with the pandemic but please remember, essential workers don’t owe you anything so watch your attitude.

Seems like no one in govt is seeing the disaster that's happening in health-care 😢. The ER was SIX nurses short on Christmas day, even with triple time and half pay.
Tonight, there's only ONE Registered Nurse on the cardiology floor. ONE. ONE nurse people. Only one showed up.

I can’t believe some folk are still saying ‘but all that New Zealand did was delay covid so it was pointless’. YEAH delay covid until there are vaccines that substantially reduce risk of death from covid! They have 10 covid deaths per million population. UK has 2,151 per million.

For us, omicron hasn't been a quick, three-day cold. Sniffles turned to chest tightness and a cough. Got a puffer. Roughly a week into this, the fatigue has yet to fade, and my energy level ebbs and flows.
What would this feel like for someone older or unvaccinated?

Some personal news: After almost two years of avoiding this whole #COVID19 thing, I finally got it. Almost certainly omicron. I'm double-vaccinated, yet I've had symptoms for nearly a week. 🧵
