Servant leadership puts the interests of those served over the interests of the leader. It means serving all, not only those who agree w/ the leader. Anyone can preach to the choir. Strong leaders serve those who disagree w/ them as fiercly as they do their biggest supporters.

If our goal is for students to receive an education that inspires & equips them to become the best versions of themselves - this can only happen w/ excellent teachers in every classroom. Divisive rhetoric & hostility undermine our collective ability to make this happen. Period.

Countless volumes have been written on leading others. May we always remember that the most daunting leadership challenge of our lifetimes will always be leading ourselves well. Growing ourselves remains our best bet to successfully grow others. One baby step at a time.

Humbled and immeasurably grateful for the incredible teachers, administrators, coaches, & support staff who have invested thousands upon thousands of hours into our kids over the years. We will never fully comprehend the influence you have had on their lives. Truly, thank you.

Regardless of the outcome of any one game, it is really difficult to imagine a team more fun to cheer for than a @PorterMoser team. Boomer!

Norman Public Schools libraries are a national model of excellence in school libraries and if you spend any time in them at all it isn’t difficult to understand why...connect, create, collaborate, inspire.
Welcome back! We are so happy to see all of you, stop by the library to say hi!

First long run of ‘22 in the books on a very interesting January 1st weather morning. To a year of embracing discomfort and always always moving forward!

The last Norman sunrise of 2021 is a keeper. May 2022 bring with it 365 days of finding the beauty and power present in each moment. This is a choice.

Between Two Kingdoms by @suleikajaouad is a powerful, painful and beautiful journey. Perspective and life giving. Absolutely worth putting on a list of books to tackle in ‘22 if you haven’t already done so.
Bravo, Mr. Horning. Very well said. Thanks for this excellent column. Sports is much more than a game, the memories and moments serve as the backdrop to our lives and the connections we hold to others. So grateful to fondly recall so many of these special moments and people.
Another personal one. Jason White a better Sooner quarterback than Sam Bradford only a small part of it. normantranscript.com/sports/…

Best Christmas gift this year so far - morning run with these NHS legends. As good of runners as they were (State Champs), they were better students. As good of students (excellent), they were better people. True gift to cheer for/follow their past & continued success. Fight On!

The University of South Carolina gave the world Hootie and the Blowfish and now they have Spencer and Stogner playing for Coach Beamer - not too shabby.
Excited for the next chapter! #SpursUp🤙🏽

May we all live life so that when it is over, people will come together to celebrate the impact we had on them.
