The FEC's campaign-finance filing system went dark overnight, a week before the midterms, after what an internal email calls an attempted breach. That's the system that tells the public who's paying for all the political ads flooding your feed right now.
I went into their own code to see what actually happened, and what I found is a lot worse than a system glitch.

🇺🇸 TRUMP THREATENS TO VETO EVERYTHING IF DEMOCRATS TAKE CONGRESS
Donald Trump is already contemplating what happens if Republicans lose control of Congress in the November 3 midterm elections. His proposed response is straightforward: refuse to sign legislation until Democrats agree to negotiate.
“If there’s political gridlock, I’ll veto everything. And the Democrats would come to negotiate,” Trump declared.
It is an unusually explicit description of how he intends to approach divided government. Rather than treating a Democratic congressional majority as a reason to compromise immediately, Trump is presenting the presidential veto as leverage to force negotiations.
There is, however, a considerable difference between blocking legislation and controlling Congress.
If Democrats capture the House of Representatives, they could prevent Republican legislation from advancing, launch investigations, subpoena administration officials and scrutinize the White House's use of federal funds. None of those oversight powers requires Trump's signature.
Control of the Senate would give Democrats additional authority over judicial confirmations and senior executive appointments, while allowing them to influence legislation and investigations across both chambers.
Trump could veto bills passed by Congress, although lawmakers could override those vetoes with two-thirds majorities in both chambers. He could not simply veto congressional hearings, committee investigations or the Senate's refusal to confirm his nominees.
And federal spending would become another potential battlefield. Appropriations require agreement between Congress and the president, creating the possibility of prolonged budget negotiations and government shutdowns.
Trump sees legislative deadlock as an opportunity to extract concessions. Democrats, if they gain control of Congress, would have their own institutional tools to exert pressure.
The result could be a Washington where neither side can easily advance its agenda, but both retain considerable power to obstruct the other.
Trump is already preparing to use the veto. The question is how much governing either side could accomplish once the confrontation begins.

🚨🚨🚨 PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS🚨🚨🚨
Whilst Melania claims she is saving the people in Oleshky who have been starving to death under Russia occupation and bombing, Russian forces for refusing to let Oleshky residents cross the short Dnipro River distance to Ukrainian-held areas during evacuations, directing them instead deeper into occupied Crimea or Russia where they risk further coercive processing.
Melania has not secured ANY guarantees that Ukrainian residents will be transported to Ukrainian held territory where they will be safe following an evacuation form Oleshky.
THE CEASEFIRE HAS COMMENCED
The ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia took effect at 4:00am Moscow time on October 27, 2026.
Timing was accelerated two days ahead of schedule to protect the safety of civilians and to facilitate the delivery of critical humanitarian aid. The ceasefire’s geographic area has expanded beyond Oleshky, within the Kherson Region, to provide safe passage for the humanitarian convoys.
General Valery Gerasimov, Joint Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces has confirmed.

Witkoff tried to convince Budanov of how rich he could be if he sold out his country by allowing Russian pipelines to again flow through Ukraine. Budanov ended the meeting.
Content of Tense Conversation Between Budanov and Trump's Team Revealed
Negotiations between the Ukrainian delegation and Donald Trump's special envoys in Miami, as reported by Le Monde, escalated into a conflict. According to the publication, during a three-hour meeting at the Shell Bay golf club, Steve Witkoff "with irritation" demanded that Kyrylo Budanov, head of Zelenskyy's office, cease strikes on Russian oil refineries.
Budanov, per Le Monde's information, "barely contained his anger" and felt that he was being "treated like a child, trying to teach him how to make money." The Americans presented an ambitious plan for postwar "regional prosperity," which envisioned resuming the transit of Russian oil and gas to Europe through Ukraine, with dividends paid to Kyiv.
Budanov was outraged that such a deal would tie Ukraine to Moscow, after which the negotiations broke off. When the meeting resumed, the Americans proposed accepting a deal for supplies of Russian diesel to the United States.
The publication's sources noted that they had never seen Ukrainians "so upset and alarmed." Zelenskyy's entourage described the situation as "hopeless," since Trump's envoys "think only about business."

‼️ IMPORTANT: We expect Putin to use the evacuation from Oleshky as a PR stunt and an attempt to rewrite the history of what happened in the city. The American public should be aware of Russia’s disinformation tactics and know what warning signs to watch for.
Here are some key Q&As ⬇️
What is happening in Oleshky, and how severe is the humanitarian situation?
Oleshky, located across the Dnipro River from Kherson city, has been under Russian occupation since 2022. An estimated 2,000 civilians remain trapped in the city, including around 50 children. Most are elderly people, people with disabilities, and their caregivers.
Residents face severe shortages of food and medicine, with no access to drinking water, electricity, gas, or heating. The last regular road deliveries of food took place in May 2026. Medical and sanitary conditions have deteriorated dramatically. Russia does not provide humanitarian relief to the city and has refused to allow the ICRC or the UN to enter, despite multiple attempts.
Why have residents been unable to leave?
Swarming drones, heavily mined roads, and destroyed infrastructure have made it extremely dangerous for residents to leave. Russian forces have blocked civilians from fleeing and prevented humanitarian aid from reaching those trapped in Oleshky. According to @nytimes, people who managed to escape the city described residents being used as human shields.
What exactly has been agreed upon now?
A localized ceasefire took effect at 3 a.m. Kyiv time on October 27 to facilitate humanitarian assistance and prepare for civilian evacuations. The plan involves demining, aid deliveries, and the opening of a humanitarian corridor, with evacuations expected to begin on October 29.
Ukraine welcomed efforts to provide humanitarian relief, brokered by @FLOTUS Melania Trump and @Pontifex Pope Leo XIV. Ukrainian officials have agreed to the localized ceasefire but remain concerned about implementation and compliance, given Russia’s long history of violating humanitarian agreements.
Where will civilians be taken?
According to @FT, residents seeking evacuation will be first taken to occupied Crimea or Russia rather than directly to Ukrainian-controlled territory across the Dnipro River.
Will the evacuation through Russia be voluntary?
Establishing genuine consent will be particularly difficult when residents are desperate for food, water, and medical care and have limited access to independent information. Many of these people will likely be taken to Russia against their wishes. According to Ukrainian officials, some people may decide to remain in Oleshky.
What will happen to evacuees afterward?
Russian officials have said that residents wishing to return to Ukraine will be able to do so. However, there are serious concerns that people transferred to Russian-controlled territory could face interrogation, filtration procedures, detention, or pressure to obtain Russian documents or register with Russian authorities.
Children face additional risks, including separation from their families or placement in Russian custody. People seeking to reach Ukrainian-controlled territory may have to travel through Russia and Belarus, and then through EU countries before entering Ukraine from the west.
Why is independent international monitoring essential?
Ukraine's Human Rights Commissioner, Dmytro Lubinets, is coordinating evacuation requests, but important operational details remain unclear. There is no confirmation that the ICRC, UNHCR, or other independent international organizations will monitor the evacuations.
Independent monitors should have access to evacuation routes and destinations, be able to speak privately with civilians, verify consent, protect children and vulnerable people, and investigate alleged violations.
Will there be American observers on the ground?
The White House has said an impartial American media organization will accompany the operation and document the process. @Newsmax has announced plans to send journalists to Oleshky.
Their presence could provide invaluable reporting and documentation. However, journalists are not a substitute for humanitarian monitors: they do not have the same mandate, expertise, or access guarantees to protect civilians and enforce compliance with international humanitarian law. Moreover, American journalists themselves also face serious security risks in Russian-controlled territory.
What Russian disinformation tactics should the public watch for?
@peterpomeranzev of @TRPforJustice, who has been studying Russian propaganda for years, warns in his analysis for the @KyivIndependent that residents of Oleshky, under the pressure of living on the brink of death, could become props for Russian propagandists.
Russia may be preparing to stage dozens of videos in occupied Oleshky, in which local residents will be forced to say on camera that they are happy, well-fed, and grateful to the Russian occupiers.
Ukrainian officials have warned that Moscow could portray the evacuation as evidence that Ukrainians freely choose to move to Russia. Russia will most likely try to blame Ukraine for the horrors Russian army has unleashed on Oleshky — and take more Ukrainian children under the pretext of “protecting” them and providing humanitarian assistance.

🚨 FT: Residents of occupied Oleshky seeking evacuation would be taken to Crimea or Russia instead of Ukrainian-controlled territory just across the Dnipro River.
This is a terrifying warning sign. Russia is preparing to turn an evacuation into a deportation operation. It will exploit people’s desperation for a propaganda stunt, put them through filtration camps, and forcibly keep them under Russian occupation, where they would remain in grave danger.

Another note for SpaceX attorneys and PR: There was no need to issue an alert at all. Your own internal data showed a safe 2km pass. But you issued a 400m collision alert anyway. Why? Because the alert itself is the weapon. Issuing it triggered FCC Cond 16, legally freezing ICEYE so it couldn't dodge. STARLINK-35856 didn't use its auto-evasion. It just parked there and kept the false alarm blaring while Russia sprinted in. It wasn't an accident.
