Do you even realize who was depicted on the helmet of banned Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych (@heraskevych )?
They were Ukrainian athletes โ women, men, and even children โ who hoped to be part of the Olympic Games this year or someday in the future. But they never will be. They never stood a chance against Russian missiles.
Vladyslav wanted to give them that chance โ to carry them with him, to be their guide after death, and to honor their memory. Commemorating fallen athletes should have been among the most respected acts in the eyes of the International Olympic Committee.
But not in a world shaped by injustice, Russian money, a loss of values and faith, a lack of dignity, and the absence of basic professional ethics.
They told him to change the helmet and everything would be fine โ to reject the memory of fellow athletes. Heโd get his gold medal and the prize that came with it. After all, he had trained his entire life for this.
But he chose dignity and values over a gold medal. This is how ancient legends were born in the past. Now they are returning to a world that has lost its soul. And these legends have Ukrainian faces.
Athletes depicted on the helmet:
๐ค Alina Perehudova: Teenage weightlifter.
๐คPavlo Ischenko: Boxer.
๐คOleksiy Loginov: Ice hockey player.
๐คIvan Kononenko: Actor and athlete.
๐คMykyta Kozubenko: Diving athlete and coach.
๐คOleksiy Habarov: Shooter.
๐คDaria Kurdel: Dancer.
๐คDmytro Sharpar: Figure skater killed near Bakhmut.
๐คYevhen Malyshev: 19-year-old biathlete killed near Kharkiv.
I have wanted to know all the things about bay leaves for a long time. As @redhotnerd says "theyโre helping connect flavors that otherwise sit around in your pot like strangers at a wedding." #bayleavesmatter
Arg. No, they want you to prosecute and hold them accountable. Itโs not getting even. Itโs up holding the law. You can ALSO work on affordability. Not mutually exclusive๏ฟผ.

Dr. Larissa Portnoff, a NY psychologist, has now come out about being one of the Jane Does accusing Donald Trump. She claims it started when she was 8yrs old, then again when she was 16 and 17yrs old.
Now she claims he's been trying to get back to her. She's says she is being threatened and harrassed. She also says she has spoken to the Select Committee in Congress.
What is it with all these quitters? Yeah kucherov is not quitting mid contract. But jeesh Larkin, Brady, Hughes, Hellebuck. So many just bailing.
What a pile of nonsense. How vile to use Maya this way.
When Canada gave up on her, the USA gave her a second chance!

Sigh. The US education system rears its head once more.
Since when did Canada have a Thanksgiving?
And why is it a month and a half early?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Canada's first official national Thanksgiving was held on November 6, 1879, and Parliament fixed the holiday on the second Monday of October in 1957. It is a long-standing Canadian holiday with its own date, not a late or early version of the U.S. one. thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/thaโฆ

Does anybody else feel like life never really went back to normal after 2020?
And Iโm not talking about masks, lockdowns, or any of the political debates. I mean the feeling of life itself.
Everything technically returned to "normal." The stores reopened. The roads got busy again. People went back to work. Life kept moving.
But something still feels different.
The years seem to pass faster than ever. Friendships feel more distant. Conversations feel shorter. People seem more distracted, more exhausted, and less present.
Itโs hard to explain because nothing obvious is missing.
Yet somehow it feels like we lost something important along the way.
Life used to feel slower. More connected. More genuine. There was a sense of optimism, excitement, and possibility thatโs difficult to describe now.
Maybe we're all just getting older.
Or maybe 2020 changed people in ways we're still trying to understand.
I can't put my finger on exactly what was lost.
I just know that life used to feel a lot more alive than it does today.
These are perfect!

For more than two months, I have been working on a truly horrific story about one of the gravest war crimes committed by the United States since Vietnam: The bombing of the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, Iran. It was one of the first targets struck in the opening hours of the war on February 28, 2026.
At least 156 people were killed in the U.S. cruise missile strikesโ120 of them were children and 26 were teachers. We spoke to survivors, first responders, parents, doctors, teachers, psychologists, and other witnesses. Some of them had never before shared their experiences of that day.
It would be impossible to do justice to what happened in Minab that day with words alone. In more than 25 years in journalism and reporting on war, I do not believe I have reported on a more heinous single crime.
