Private schooling for a wealthy minority is the cause of so many problems in our society, media & politics.
Like Finland, kids should be educated in government funded & supervised schools, eating free school meals together to build shared values, understanding & citizenship.

Sure, but was this ultimately all that much sillier than Bojo Bongs Great British Brexit or Forensic Sir Keir Gets The Good Vibes Started, or whatever. Were any of these things notably more or less actively malicious than another one was?

Again & again a UN independent report concludes genocidal acts in #Gaza & crimes against humanity in the West Bank.
This is again & again made possible due to impunity.
When will the international community draw a red line?

ā¼ļøA new UN report exposes how influential international media outlets distorted public understanding of Israelās conduct, facilitated genocide, and obstructed accountability.
Its key recommendation is simple: Media organisations must stop laundering propaganda through the journalistic form.

Canāt understand why Labour wants to lead the Budget with tariff cuts on 100 food items. Saving to the average household: Ā£1.60 a month.
Household spending is up about £693 a month since the cost of living crisis began. So the gherkins cut covers 0.23% of that

A message to those who still believe that it all started on October 7. No, it didn't. A 'managed genocide', to keep 1.5 million Palestinians "on the edge of life" was in force years before. Read the latest report by Eyal Weizman:
"A military document called āRed Linesā set the minimum number of calories required to sustain Gazaās population at a level just above the UN definition of hunger (2100 calories a day for men, 1700 for women and a varying amount for children depending on gender and age). The total number of calories was translated into the tonnage required to feed Gazaās then population of 1.5 million and thus the number of aid trucks allowed into the territory. The same went for megawatts of electricity and litres of fuel and water. What was seen as good behaviour was rewarded by an increase in the amounts coming in, any acts of resistance by the tightening of the siege, like a population-scale version of a Milgram experiment."

All youāve done is threaten to plunge local councils into chaos, unless Green Party councillors deny that a racist political ideology is racist. Oh and cheap gherkins.
100 days ago, I promised to do things differently.
From cutting everyday costs to handing power back to communities, change is already underway.
But I know thereās much more to do - this is just the beginning.

The Foreign Secretary was asked how Israel can continue to be treated as a UK ally amid its ongoing attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank, and what action the government would take to prevent UK complicity.
He did not directly answer either question.

NEW REPORT! āTruth under the Rubble: Media in the Time of Genocideā
In Palestine, the destruction of the truth has become integral to the destruction of the Palestinian people.
The new report examines:
1) Israelās systematic elimination of Palestinian journalists and media infrastructure.
2) Censorship, propaganda, dehumanisation and genocidal incitement against Palestinians, in Israel.
3) The role of influential media and digital platforms in marginalising Palestinian voices and reproducing Israeli narratives.
š¬ āPerpetrators and enablers of genocide often seek to shape how genocidal destruction is perceived and remembered. [...] The current genocidal phase has intensified the war both on and through the media.ā

In my opinion, @DovWaxman is overgenerous and makes a virtue of Bartovās mistakes. E.g. āBy June 2024, Bartov had become convinced that Israelās ethnic cleansing campaign in Gaza had indeed escalated into genocide.ā Yet Israelās original assault was not āethnic cleansingā as generally understood, but a campaign of destruction which was at its most murderous in late 2023āso that is when the question of genocide arose, not in June 2024. As Bartov himself has said, āI resisted as long as I couldāāin effect, long after the issue was posed, five months after South Africaās case was brought, four after the ICJ found a āplausible riskā. True, he got there in the end, which is the most important thing, but the journey does not add credibility.
good and fair review of Bartov's book
