The @UN declaration on noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) has explicitly included dementia. At @LancetGH we discuss how countries can take real action to prevent dementia when it is treated like other major diseases. Preventing dementia needs to go beyond individual choices, with coordinated actions to improve education, health systems and living conditions. Led by @SimoneSalemmeMD & @seb_walsh. #PLADRR.  thelancet.com/journals/lanpu…

Dementia prevention faces a paradox: Behavior-focused prevention can widen inequalities when structural barriers persist. Out at the @WHOBulletin, we propose shifting from single individual focus to population-level, equity-driven action across the life course: bit.ly/45io5td Timothy Daly @aslachevskych @DominicTrepel @seb_walsh

🚨In this new systematic review, most of the 18 studies reported dynamic associations between lifecourse socioeconomic change and dementia risk. Highest risk for those born poor who stay poor. Eleanor Williams, @ilk21, Carol Brayne @CamPubHealth jech.bmj.com/content/early/2…

A key (often ignored) aspect of Alzheimer's research is translating findings between familial disease, specialist clinics, and general population. Here we identify key unanswered research questions and describe a framework for knowledge integration nature.com/articles/s41380-0…

This is exactly how I've come to see deprescribing. All other outcomes held the same, it is better to be on fewer medicines than more. The burden of more medicines should be to prove they add benefit and not the other way around

New paper with @JanetJanbek using 🇩🇰 registry data to examine prevalence/co-occurrence of dementia risk factors. 82% of people >65 have multiple risk factors, speaking to the need for upstream public health action. More work soon from this collaboration! doi.org/10.1016/j.tjpad.2025…

The hope is that this provides a platform for people starting out in the dementia research field to make it easier to incorporate an SDOD lens, by knowing what evidence we do have and where the gaps are 3/
