What this will mean for #Ethiopia’s attempts to cosy up to the French means, time will tell.
Our comprehensive efforts to sustainably ensure our country's peace and security have reached a new milestone today. The state of readiness being built within Ethiopia's defense forces is endowing the nation with the capability to preemptively deter aggression.
In accordance with our prior agreement with the Russian government, we have today taken delivery of the first twelve Su-35 4++ Generation fighter jets. Additionally, Ethiopia will receive four S-400 air defense system batteries.
I would like to express my gratitude to my friend, Russian President Vladimir Putin, for his dedication in ensuring we received these warplanes a year ahead of our agreed schedule. By equipping itself with these fighter jets, Ethiopia has taken the lead among Sub-Saharan African nations.
This historic achievement further strengthens our nation's sovereignty, and it will serve as a massive capability boost that allows us to confidently continue our journey toward ensuring our collective security and regional stability in the future.

🚨 Three of the UK’s four nuclear deterrent submarines are out at sea, it is understood.
It is not clear why but at least one of the boats will be armed with nuclear warheads and on routine patrol.
An expert said one of the other Vanguard-class submarines would likely be working up to take over the patrol, while the third could be undergoing sea trials.
The Ministry of Defence declined to comment.

The unusual deployment of most of the fleet indicates improved availability, which has been a problem for the Royal Navy’s submarine service in recent years.
It will doubtless be noticed by the UK’s enemies.

"Sure - I have found you a ball-bearing plant in Schweinfurt. Would you like help in planning that attack?"

OFC, brining it under KNDS France is equivalent to government ownership. Be better to do what UK MoD did with Sheffield Forgemasters and running it outright rather than through a commercial cut-out - manage supply, demand, R&D, and tech security.

For all the #PHP patching that's going on today, I'll bet there are some folks at NSA, GCHQ, etc who have possibly just seen one of their favourite intrustion tools disappear.

#Qatar to announce regional defence production hub with "a key regional ally, the United States, the United Kingdom and France."
Some thoughts: 🧵

...the regional production hub concept. If delivered in support with #KSA, it could significantly benefit the other partners with an off-shore, regional production capability.
