Hard to believe it's been 20 years... incredible! And so much has changed since then. JavaScript has moved from a fun lang dabbling in apps (Ajax) to something that has changed all of software engineering (Node, TypeScript). An amazing adventure 🚀
On January 14, 2006, 20 years ago today, @jeresig introduced a new JavaScript library that came to be known as jQuery.

Physicist and philosopher Jenann Ismael says when a person dies, it's the collapse of a model trained on unrepeatable data. A lifetime of inputs (books, sensations, thoughts) erased. The signal stops. The information is gone. The loss is absolute.

This one slipped right by me: Oracle will no longer allow any of its "Long Term Support" (LTS) JDKs to be used for free in production. I suspect that this will make them among the least popular JDKs of all time, and perhaps irrelevant. Am I missing something?

A team has backlog items that have been languishing at the bottom of the backlog for four years. Anything in that state is either irrelevant or likely never going to happen between now and the heat death of the product. Worth adopting a TTL/best-before-date for backlog items.

[blog] Java is still available at zero-cost! Although Oracle may not be providing long-term support from Java 11 onwards, other plans are in place to secure zero-cost access to the JDK: blog.joda.org/2018/08/java-i…
