I think it's true that TNG wore its aspirational elements on its sleeve in a way few scripted TV shows have since. When it goes wrong it's cloying, but when it's done right there's nothing like witnessing a story that has moral conviction.
The nasty truth about Bond mass entertainment is that he's only a compelling protagonist when he seems just as capable of lashing out at a woman as he is of charming her.
All of this is also why I'm uncertain about Jack Lowden's prospects as Bond. He has vulnerability, which is a prerequisite for any non-dinosaur takes on the character, but I'm not sure he embodies the tasteless cruel streak.
This is a dumb controversy. Tolkien was so famously conflicted about his treatment of Orcs that there's an entire Wikipedia article devoted to it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tolkie…
If they tried the Iris Wildthyme bit in mainstream Doctor Who I think the fans would probably assassinate the showrunner
Half the "Doctor Who should do X" posts you see on here are not story ideas but people fantasizing about an opening which retcons every grievance they have with the previous era as a dream, simulation, gas leak, block transfer computation, etc.
If it's a genuine quote, it's kind of damning. Criticism of Hitler's warlike nature (bit rich coming from a man whose nationalist campaigning was a source of inspiration to Hitler), not a word on the social terror unleashed on minorities. Which of course the Turks were doing too.
•
“Körü körüne hesapsız, kitapsız bir nefis itimadı, tamamen otomatik bir ordu sistemi, ilk hamlede korkunç bir kuvvet tesiri yapacak, fakat bir kere bir tarafı sakatlandı mı, tarumar olacak, o çalışkan millet yere serilecektir. Ortada ne Hitler, ne teşkilatı kalacaktır.
Mussolini’den hiç bahse hacet yoktur,
o, efendisinin ortadan kalktığı gün yok olacaktır…”

Wasn't this the point of hereditary aristocracy?
People like this are "post-literate". They view the acts of writing and reading only as a means to an end and not worthwhile experiences in and of themselves. Also they mostly read posts
