As reported in the @WSJ, we have raised a Series B to bring Hermes Agent to new frontiers (and, yes, build a mobile app)
Thank you to our investors including @nvidia @M12vc @SamsungNext @robotventures @usv @ycombinator @MenloVentures, among others

I and @nicochristie ran the fly connectome and found the group of neurons (hΔH, hΔA, hΔI and hΔG) that could allow the fly to navigate using fast synaptic weight updates, not neural activations. This is fast-weight continual learning in a fly, something current LLMs don't do!
For the first time, scientists have mapped the complete brain and central nervous system of an adult male fruit fly — a key model organism in science. 🪰
Working alongside HHMI Janelia Research Campus and the scientific community, @GoogleResearch scientists and researchers used AI to combine millions of 2D images into 3D neural shapes, reconstructing a record-breaking 166,000+ neurons. This foundational map of the adult male fruit fly brain can help accelerate our understanding of the brain, and is a major milestone in neuroscience.

rough two cents but ai people are too cruel to the artists and mathematicians impacted by ai entering their field
a good comparison i saw was 'imagine if claude code was just outputting a binary asset, not code'
antagonizing fellow humans over ai doing their work is fucked up

Hermes Agent (@NousResearch) can now control my phone apps.
Just say:
• "Book me the best ride based on traffic"
• "Order my usual coffee on weather"
• "Compare food prices across apps"
Huge thanks to my mentors @fayazara @Kshitijjkapoor for all the guidance throughout the @GrowthX_Club hackathon. 🙌

why nobody is building a private FSSAI that actually works.
what can be the biggest hurdle if someone does so?

would you like some helveticaslop? we also have some freshly made serifslop if you're interested
Introducing: Megaprop: a library for efficient preconditioned optimization across GPUs!
Megaprop is a fork of Megatron and TransformerEngine, with FSDP support for Muon, FOOF, KFAC, and Newton-Muon, with MuP support, for both width and depth...

We’re excited to welcome @sidbing from @NousResearch this Saturday to share insights into the latest Hermes Agent research and what’s coming next!
We're hosting a Vibe with Hermes Agent mini workshop and build-along this weekend with @savantnimit.
Bring a real problem, explore how Hermes Agent can help, build your own workflow, and leave with something practical to keep improving.

Since its been 24 hours, i can finally say, i love how SHL0MS baited everyone into responding to this, many art experts saying how badly the ai did when in reality its a cropped real monet painting they are critiquing as ai 😭
I literally run 12 hermes agent instances every day in parallel to build Hermes Agent, and its now a top 100 GitHub repositories of all time. Agents do bring value and do create substantive software and work.
Everyone is slowly coming to this realization, and I assure you, no one is running multitudes of agents overnight. No one that is doing anything of substance at least.
There _are_ people pretending to be scientists, or fully caught up in their drug infused AI overdose, that think their slop machines are changing the world. They're not tho, and they're just wasting a bunch of money and compute to create a lot of LoC that will just get thrown away.
The state of the art is still "can we even one shot a production quality patch that we wont regret later", and its rarer than you'd expect based on discourse.

Here's how to give your Hermes agent its own email inbox. @NousResearch
No SMTP/IMAP, no Google Oauth, just plug in AgentMail using MCP.
See how it works:

I'm seeing a few "But WHY do we need Hermes Agent when Claw & clones exist" posts
Let me give you a hint: Notice the Atropos integration? Notice the Tinker training backend? What happens when an agent can not only own and extend it's own scaffolding, but it's own evals, it's own model training, and it's own inference?
It's a much bigger deal than setting up a cron job to delete spam or something. Tinker is just the first backend among many (including the big one Nous is working on) - but you could for example get the agent to build itself a Runpod integration, manage it's own inference, train itself new models, optimised to whatever you're doing. Build a LoRA or steering vector library for each task, automate reading arxiv papers and running replication experiments, whatever. I kinda want an MLX backend I've been working on built into it (on the ol todo list), since I bet a continuously trained 30b MoE could get really optimal at automating the things I want automated, fully self hosted and self trained constantly
Early days yet, think of something that an agent that's intended to own it's own weights could do & see what you can do with it. Use it, extend it, contrib etc
