In rest of the world, journalists ask questions to the leader in power; in India, journalists ask questions to the leader of opposition. A bunch of third rate jokers!

Sanyal, Dreze is worth 100 of you. A far far far better economist than you, with your supplicant mediocrity, would ever be. And an infinitely better human being who’s done more for India than you or ideological forefathers have ever done.
His work was funded by Ford Foundation and McArthur Foundation. How many million years would it take to those "100 workers" to match billionaires like Henry Ford and John McArthur? Or is this calculation meant only for the non-white billionaires? Saving Indian souls - backed by western business - is a very old game.....

Picking up protestors before a rally is a classic dictatorial playbook. Happened in Nazi Germany, Apartheid South Africa, Soviet Russia, Colonia India, among many others. The Indian govt following in the footsteps of some of the worst regimes imaginable. Simon come back?

Mahatma Gandhi’s great grandson being told not to protest at the site Gandhi launched the quit India movement by Indian police who take orders from a man who belongs to the same organization as Gandhi’s assassin.
Mumbai police are calling me and my associates and telling us to call off tomorrows call. They are also telling us that the High Court has designated Azad Maidan for protests. But I am determined to go to August Kranti Maidan and protests there. The Police are welcome to prevent me from going/reaching there or arrest me for protesting without permission. That is the whole ideal of Civil Disobedience, Satyagraha!

It’s a very big problem. A certain section—not just the BJP—another party thinks “saving India, saving constitution” is only their job. They are self-declared liberals and self-declared thekedars of the constitution. It’s a very salty ecosystem, acting worse than the BJP’s ecosystem sometimes. They must realise that they can’t divide and rule through such tactics. Their massive failures over the years has led us to this moment where the young have to show the way. So they should just zip it on us and focus on how to support the young! Total buffoons!
An entire “self-declared liberal” ecosystem has been activated to denounce @abhijeet_dipke and the fact that he has been able to capture the imagination of millions of Indians after a LONG LONG time. The hilarious part is that this ecosystem exists only on Twitter, but somehow thinks they are the sole protectors of democracy.

Astounding video from the Ganpati Visarjan in Mumbai: Anant Ambani, heir to India’s richest man, singing an H-Pop song which threatens to slay “enemies” of Hindus. I’ve been saying this for a while, music and pop culture are more potent forms of propaganda than hate speech.

It's important to learn math not because you may need to do long division as an adult, but because it promotes rigorous thinking. IMO, history and causal inference are among the most important subjects a young person can study — math being central to the second. A significant problem in public discourse right now is people's inability to critically evaluate causal claims (e.g., vaccines cause autism, deporting immigrants will solve the housing crisis, etc.). The less able people are to critically evaluate causal claims, the worse our democracy functions because people can be preyed upon for votes. You should promote anything that improves rigorous thinking, even if it doesn't have market value. In fact, we should stop thinking of education only in the context of what improves the economy. IMO, this is distinct from knowing your own address (which Huang can avoid because he's wealthy). Memorizing facts like this may or may not be important, but it's distinct from rigorous thinking.
HUANG: “.. Try getting a kid to do long division right now. Multiplication tables are starting to be forgotten. Doing square roots? My goodness. .. .. Does it matter? .. I don’t think it does.” @ezraklein @JensenHuang

Multiculturalism has utterly failed. Britain is sadly losing its grip of our cultural heritage, traditions, Christian values, sense of history and unity. Too many politicians have shied away from dealing with this crisis of confidence that many millions of British people feel. We need to fix the problems of poor integration.

Asal mein this is a good reflection of the quality of elite discourse/opinion/thought. Bheega aadmi jhooth bol raha hai ke baarish ho rahi hai. Agar ho rahi hoti to wo dekho falaan aadmi kaise sookha hota? Arey bhai, dimaag nahin chalta to aankhen to chalti hongi? Khidki ke baahar dekhiye.

Whatever its anxieties over Joe Sacco’s ‘The Once and Future Riot’ or Sonia Gandhi’s ‘Belonging’, Penguin cannot project its cowardice onto India. Going to the centenary celebrations of a college as reputed as SRCC, you would have expected the Prime Minister to talk education, jobs, current challenges impacting students, and what all India is doing to set itself apart for next 20 years. Instead, he resorted to “Dimagi Naxal” nonsense. That’s what happens when your degree is in “Entire Political History”.
#WATCH | Delhi: At the centenary celebrations of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, "You may have heard my speech from Red Fort. I gave a homeopathic pill from the Red Fort—"Dimagi Naxal". According to the principles of homeopathy, when you begin homeopathic treatment, the disease initially gets worse. That is the nature of homeopathy. Similarly, as soon as I gave the "Dimagi Naxal" homeopathic pill, all the "Dimagi Naxals" started coming out one after another. And now the public is also seeing the true colours of those who are promoting this illness." "I have told you so many things. Some people may think, "What is this? This is a country of 140 crore people. It was very easy. What new thing did Modi do?" But was it really that easy? I want to take you back to the old days once again. Remember, when you were in school, there was a disaster in Kedarnath in 2013. The entire government was shaken. They simply did not know what to do or how to respond. When the banking crisis came in 2008, the government at the time tried to hide behind the crisis for years. It did not even have the courage to tackle it. The entire banking system of India was pushed to the brink of collapse. In 2008 itself, there was a horrific terror attack in Mumbai. The government of the time came under pressure from outside but did not even have the courage to teach Pakistan a lesson...Over the past six years, we have faced major crises. First came the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought the entire world to a standstill. Then the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out. After that, there was a period when trade and supply chains began to be weaponised. Then came the crisis in West Asia. Every time, people said, "Now India will not survive." And those who are my biggest admirers were happy, thinking, "Now Modi is trapped. Now Modi has fallen. Now they will crush him." But the blessings of the people of my country have so much strength, so much strength, that every wish of those who want India to fail is being left unfulfilled."

Wow. Going to one of India’s premier colleges and once again branding a young, questioning generation as “Dimagi Naxals” has got to be among the most shameful things a Prime Minister can do. And on Teacher’s Day. He could have spoken about why SRCC’s own teachers have had to protest over denial of medical and childcare leave. He could have promised SRCC’s students better infrastructure that’s crumbling. He could have acknowledged the crushing pressure of hyper-competition they face. He could have also spoken about nearly 1 lakh schools shutting down in a decade. About 9 crore young Indians trapped without any jobs, any education and any training. About 73% of school students dropping out before completing higher secondary education. He could even have answered for his own government SLASHING education budget by HALF in last 12 years! But he chose none of it. Instead, the Prime Minister used Teacher’s Day to deliver yet another political lecture DEMONISING an entire generation of young Indians for committing one unforgivable act in his eyes: questioning those in power. A Prime Minister should give the young hope, not such stupid labels. He should answer their questions, not vilify them for asking. What a pathetic state of affairs. @Cockroachisback

First, we are not “betis” of the country - we are citizens. Second, smashing the patriarchy is not tested by things like flying planes - it’s tested by the response of men when asked to acknowledge our agency And you sir, are failing the test.
Congress says, “Smash patriarchy.” Why always target only Hindus? What about minority women? What about Triple Talaq? Are Muslim girls not our sisters & betis? If you truly stand with women, stand with every woman, every community, every time. Our Indian betis are leading in ISRO, flying fighter jets & winning medals at the Olympics. Nari Shakti is visible in Lakhpati Didis & Drone Didis. Do not undermine Indian betis to divide Indian society.
