The church, Saint Joseph (Mar Youssef), was constructed in 1927. The 1927 construction was a modern rebuilding on top of an earlier parish foundation dating to the 19th century.
While this photograph shows a part of the church, the surrounding architecture has been completely decimated by deliberate Israeli attacks.

The tragedy of Batoul Haddad is one of Jordan's most devastating documented cases of familial violence. In April 2014, the 22-year-old university student from the Ajloun Governorate made a deeply personal decision to convert from Christianity to Islam. When her devoutly Christian father discovered her new faith, he did not seek dialogue or understanding. Instead, the discovery became a death sentence, turning the man who raised her into her killer.
Her father took her to a remote, rocky forest in northern Jordan where she was utterly isolated. There, she was brutally attacked, suffering severe physical trauma before being bludgeoned to death with heavy rocks. Batoul died alone at the hands of her own parent, killed simply for insisting on her right to choose her own religion.
Her father was quickly arrested and confessed to the crime, the stark brutality of a young woman violently murdered by her family for her beliefs sparked widespread outrage and protests across the country.
Christian terrorism is rampant around the world, but you hear nothing of it in Western media. They prefer to highlight all acts of violence attributed to Muslims, regardless of their veracity.
