The wages at many tech firms are eyewatering. Imagine switching industries after haveing gotten used to that type of income...
Iceland is a tiny country. Only 400,000 people live there. It is therefore understandable that someone who hasn't been to Iceland can name exactly one Icelandic city - even if they get the spelling wrong...
This is the new fast train network planned across Europe. The new travel times are listed on the map too.

What share of typical monthly income is needed to rent 100 m² of housing across Europe? Denmark looks attractive.
Every generation thinks it has it tough financially. And every generation has a point.
Silent Generation: Paying for the increasingly expensive privilege of growing very old.
Baby Boomers: Turning enormous accumulated wealth into reliable retirement income.
Gen X: Supporting children, ageing parents and their own retirement savings. Burning the candle from three ends!
Millennials: Mortgages, childcare and career building. Everything is expensive at precisely the same time.
Gen Z: Trying to get onto the property ladder while AI threatens traditional entry-level career paths.
Gen Alpha: Growing up in a world where parental wealth increasingly determines future opportunities.
The demographic lens helps explain why these financial pressures are so predictable.
Which generation do you think faces the toughest decade ahead?

Social activities keep declining in the US. Going to rock and pop concerts is up - I’d guess that’s because older folks can afford tickets to see their teenage favorites?

All foreign embassies in Paris. What are the best diplomatic neighbours? The Brazilians and Germans can talk about football (with the exception of that one game...). The Czechs and Aussies can drink. Australia, Czechia and Bolivia snatched up cliche spots close to one another near the Eiffel Tower. What conversations between neighbours can you imagine? Source: buff.ly/Usj5Dew

On this map @joshuabarzon predicts what happens once the US government collapses. We see the country split into various little empires each ruled by a fast food chain. Not an unlikely scenario I must say…

What kills people in India changes dramatically with age. Infant deaths are dominated by birth complications and infections, injuries and suicide take a heavy toll on young adults, while heart disease, stroke, cancer and lung disease dominate later life.

You've read a lot about how much China reduced extreme poverty but without much international recognition Indonesia hasn’t been far behind the Chinese! Respect.

Reminder not having a long commute is one of the biggest life upgrades. You never normalize against this, like you would a very good or very bad event (the commuting paradox, described in the Scandinavian Journal of Economics). Moving closer to work or going remote is worth it
