RustFS is an S3-compatible object store in Rust. Its console showed a signed-in admin an avatar and nothing else — no username, no role — and admins couldn't change their own password at all.
I opened PRs adding self-service accounts+TOTP 2FA across all 3 repos. @RustFSofficial
The QR is rendered server-side -neither the web console nor the CLI ships a QR encoder. 1 imp., 2 clients.
Best moment: the e2e test caught me refusing 2FA for root because its password is immutable. Two different capabilities. Would've left the default deployment unprotectable.
Open PRs, not merged. Review and pushback genuinely wanted — especially on those boundaries:
