In past years, the hallmark of @SpeakerCoughlin's tenure has been combating hunger and providing property tax relief for seniors.
@GovSherrillNJ's response?
1. Cut Meals on Wheels funding that serves vulnerable seniors, and 2. take away up to $2,500 of property tax relief promised to seniors, including those on fixed incomes, while "finding" & redirecting $20 million in taxpayer dollars to legal services/deportation defense for non-citizens.
PRIORITIES. Apparently the Majority has shifted its stance under the governor?
New Jersey citizens come last.
Oh, and the next time someone tells you Washington is taking food off people's tables, remember this:
New Jersey overpaid roughly $660 million in federal SNAP benefits in 2023 due to a staggering 35.7% error rate. Even after "improvement", the error rate was still 14% in 2024.
Before Trenton lectures anyone else about protecting vulnerable families, maybe it should focus on correctly administering the benefits it already has & making sure hundreds of millions in federal dollars sent to the state actually reach the people who need & qualify for them, because we now know the Governor & Majority share a new priority.
Hint: it's not you.

And the Karmelo group AGREES with her.
They’re OPENLY calling for MURDER. This was NEVER about self-defense. Some of them just want to see white people murdered in cold blood.
They can’t be reasoned with.
“BOTH of the brothers should’ve been dead, if you ask me.”
Disgusting.

Who is Dave Sherrill?
He is @GovSherrillNJ's Dad.
Public records identify Dave Sherrill as President of United Solutions and Services LLC (US2), a contractor associated with Cape Fox Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation. Federal procurement records show US2 received contract awards totaling over $250 million in obligated funds, including major Army and Department of the Interior programs.
One notable feature of the award history is the apparent gap between 2016 and 2022. After substantial contract activity through 2016, federal award records reviewed for this thread show little or no visible activity until a $15.3 million award appears in 2022.
The following pages document the award history using federal procurement records and SAM.gov entity data.
Sorted oldest to newest.

Again, why did @MikieSherrill's dad's company get a $15 million+ contract in 2022 after 6 years of doing nothing.

‼️TODAY IN TRENTON
Another day, another torrid love affair between an unconstitutional bill & the Majority party.
We've already stepped into this ring and gotten jabbed in the face. Now, the Majority's big idea is to climb back through the ropes & demand a rematch with your money.
Seriously??? Federal immigration detention authority has been the law for nearly THREE DECADES. An inconvenient truth: President Bill Clinton (not @POTUS DJT) signed the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996. GOP, Dems, and the courts alike have enforced & upheld it. Thirty years should be enough time for the sponsor to grasp the concept. But not in Trenton!
When the progressive herd couldn't block immigration detention in court, they now try this. Only one wee little problem: WE CAN'T LEGALLY OBSTRUCT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BY TAXING ITS CONTRACTOR INTO OBLIVION.
So how exactly does NJ get around federal law, the CoreCivic decision, and that pesky Supremacy Clause?
Short answer: WE DON'T.
And get this: the bill designates a "Detention and Deportation Defense Initiative Support Fund" designed to bankroll legal services tied to detention & deportation proceedings. Their plan is to tax detention & then use the proceeds... to fight detention.
To make matters worse, the bill sponsor never answered the constitutional question because there is no answer. Instead, we got a rambling word salad of grievances, feelings, and unrelated talking points that ignored the law. At this point, I'm not convinced the sponsor read her own bill, or maybe she's hoping to find a judge willing to ignore the Constitution so this steaming pile can limp across the finish line.
How much of your money was spent paying lawyers to defend the last losing argument? Apparently, losing wasn't expensive enough the first time.
Trenton's biggest obstacle isn't the private contractor. It's the Constitution.

💸 THE DIRTY DOZEN IN NJ’S $60.7B BUDGET
DAY 10: BUFFET JUSTICE
THEY PICK. YOU PAY.
NJ is using your tax dollars in court as a policy lab for progressive activism.
In @GovSherrillNJ's swollen $60.7B Budget-in-Brief, $877M in taxpayer $ flows through the Department of Law and Public Safety plus $9.3M in the Legal Services Fund (all lumped together with law enforcement as a whole) and we can't see how much is actually going to bona fide law enforcement & valid legal services vs. dead-end litigation.
Dem legislators blindly advance laws already flagged as unconstitutional by the nonpartisan Office of Legislative Services, so naturally the Governor & AG jump right onto the train wreck. The goal isn’t to get it right, it’s to get a headline, passing laws they know won’t survive just to fight it out in court on your dime.
Look at what that produces. Former NJ AG Matt Platkin (and his ego) rolled out a racketeering case against a South Jersey power broker like it was the takedown of the century: press conferences, headlines, fists shaking, teeth gnashing... until it collapsed because the indictment was legally deficient, past the statute of limitations & the court ruled the activity not even a crime. The political hatchet job that went nowhere.
Then they dragged energy companies like ExxonMobil into court on a global climate theory that never belonged in a state courtroom to begin with & it got thrown out with prejudice. Completely dead. Your tax dollars wasted on a case that was legally doomed from the start.
Then they passed an unconstitutional law to ban immigration detention facilities tied to federal enforcement, and got smacked down in CoreCivic, Inc. v. Murphy... because states don't get to override federal immigration authority. Who knew???
Then came the gun grab. After losing the Supreme Court Bruen decision, Platkin and Co. tried to choke off the right to carry AGAIN, including forcing people to carry liability insurance just to exercise a constitutional right. The courts struck that piece down, with much more to come.
Then we have OPRA records that prove the Attorney General’s office colluded with Planned Parenthood to cut the legs out from under pregnancy resource centers (PP's biggest competitor). Now it’s at the U.S. Supreme Court in First Choice Women’s Resource Centers v. Platkin (without a single consumer complaint!) and justices are grilling the AG’s office as to why. Again, using the courts as a bully pulpit, with your money.
There's no total litigation dollar figure, so there's no way for the public to see what any of this actually costs you. It's buried on purpose, using your money to litigate away your constitutional rights.
The Governor & the AG’s office should be forced to show what each of these wild goose chase lawsuits costs taxpayers. They won’t, because it’s easier to spend your money in the back room while angling for headlines and dreaming of higher office.
This is buffet justice. They pick what they want, leave the rest, and send YOU the bill.

Funneling more $$$ to detainees' legal defense -10a.m. (Community Development & Women's Affairs), but the real fireworks happen at 11 a.m. (Appropriations) for perhaps one of the most vile bills we've seen that not only criminalizes free speech, but also permits monetary compensation to the "aggrieved" party.
So what does that mean? If you allegedly influence a pregnant woman to give birth to her child instead of terminating her pregnancy, you can be sued for the "financial harm" caused to the person or entity that would have performed the abortion. #dirtyjersey
