Believe it or not, Harry Kane, the man known for his bad luck, is actually one of the luckiest players around. The season Kane is having now is something Lewandowski delivered year after year for 3 or 4 consecutive seasons. Yet Lewandowski was never truly close to winning the Ballon d’Or, except in 2020, when he had a historic season only for the award to be cancelled. This is the same Lewandowski who sacrificed Bayern Munich, a complete team where he could have continued winning trophies and putting up incredible numbers, to join a struggling Barcelona side that was still rebuilding and under enormous pressure. At a time when we had almost lost hope in Barça, he arrived and played a huge role in saving us from hitting rock bottom and becoming like AC Milan or Manchester United. His incredible performances in his first season helped us win 2 trophies and gave us hope again. Lewandowski deserved the Ballon d’Or just as much as the great strikers who have won it. The fact that he never got his moment remains one of football’s biggest injustices.
