its obviously not *good* but admittedly having a private key of *4* as a globally trusted cert authority is one of the funniest bits of all time
For the next few days or weeks, anyone now has a root CA thanks to eMudhra. Time to have some fun with MiTMing unwilling devices!

Meet Thomas, a 35-year-old who got hooked to FanDuel and DraftKings in the pandemic, ended up $50,000 in the red. He filed for bankruptcy and signed up for a Pennsylvania registry that banned him from using betting apps. More recently, he saw an ad for Kalshi offering a cash bonus. He got the app and couldn’t put it down. He’s now living with his mom and grandmother and taking loans from them to afford food and car insurance payments. “I have a gambling addiction” he wrote to Kalshi, begging for them to ban him, which they eventually did. But not before he was more than $25,000 in the hole. Thomas represents dark side of the prediction market boom: Problem gamblers who relapse with Kalshi, which has blanketed TV, social media, sports stadiums, bus stations, trains, with ads trying to attract new traders, just as they insist they are not a gambling operator. That means they don’t honor “self-exclusion” registries maintained by states like Pennsylvania. Mental health clinicians say that creates a loophole for people like Thomas. What really got Thomas were Kalshi’s 15-minute crypto markets, where you can make a binary trade on whether Bitcoin will be above or below a certain number every 15 minutes. There were times he was betting 18 hours a day in these markets. He told me: “The odds flip so quickly. It’s such a rush. And when I’d lose, my brain just kept wanting to win it back. I never even traded Bitcoin or any crypto, but I just kept coming back to the rush of how unpredictable the markets were.” A clinician I spoke to called 15-minute crypto markets “a slot machine in your pocket” npr.org/2026/10/02/nx-s1-598…

You steal my data and say it's for "making the AI model better for everyone." I create an AI model and generate synthetic data from your model and all of a sudden I'm the bad guy? What happened to making AI better for everyone? You STOLE the data, now you are trying to privatize intelligence because you believe you are the right company to control the best models. I think I'm better, because I'm not funded by VC investor and big corporations trying to milk every dollar from the hard working people of the world. I also don't work for the Government.

I do NOT want my TV to be "smart". Just let me plug in my Xbox/Chromecast and get out of my way
Bought my parents a new “smart” TV this weekend and wow, it really is shit all the way down. £3k - £500 it doesn’t matter. They’re all powered by a potato, run terribly and are full of adverts. Does no one make “good” appliances anymore?

Introducing WalShadow: sub-second Postgres replication to ClickHouse from physical WAL. No logical replication. WalShadow decodes the same physical WAL stream Postgres replicas use and writes ClickHouse-native blocks directly into ClickHouse. In our benchmarks: ~200 ms commit-to-visible latency and 289K rows/sec sustained, keeping pace with the source Postgres. Open source and available today: buff.ly/wzD3ZKh Blog: buff.ly/piXeM2z

there’s many reasons to be skeptical that “finance culture” as such is a good/healthy thing, but there’s not a single day where i didn’t wish that tech would adopt its wasp norms around basic decency, discretion, and eschewing this gross vulgarity. really low class stuff.
Retardmaxxing has made me healthier tbf. I stopped sleep tracking, started waking up early and exercising first thing. Go to bed early when tired. Works better than optimizing my HRV etc.

This is what leadership & courage looks like. Mark Zuckerberg has always put the public good above maximizing profits. Their rollout of child safety measures was clearly long planned. The fact that this is all being released right after the settlement is merely a coincidence.
Meta is going full bore with pushing other companies to add the same restrictions it will add to its apps as a part of settlement: Meta plans to run this copy as a full page print advertisement in the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and the New York Times tomorrow morning

TIL about hidden="until-found" Add it to elements that are on the screen but not visible (e.g. on a hidden tab) and the browser will fire a beforematch event. Perfect for Stimulus to listen for and automatically switch tabs!

does annoy me that nobody is that ambitious for UK. why shouldn’t bbc be best broadcasting network in world? why shouldn’t we be world leader in research, science, technology, industry etc? why should we be so reliant on yanks? it actually isn’t impossible for us to be serious

Dear US government, Since you've just blocked Fable and Mythos on critical national security grounds, here are some other tools that pose a similar threat to the American people: - Microsoft Teams - SAP - Salesforce - Jira - Outlook Please do what you must to save America 🇺🇸
‼️🚨 BREAKING: Amazon researchers snitched to the US government about jailbreaking Fable 5 and Mythos 5, forcing Anthropic to immediately shut down worldwide access. A security export control directive from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick enforced the action. Anthropic is fighting the directive and calls it a misunderstanding. This isn't the first clash. The Trump administration had already tried to get Anthropic to pause the release of its latest models before this directive landed.
