working on my interactive children’s book about the water cycle :O
currently testing different paper materials (this is a pretty thick cardstock) but also trying new binding technique,, so lmk if anyone has any resources
story board for a project for my motion design class ~

Hand-painted normals + #tsl postprocessing

Also here:
+ brush strokes based on color gradients
+ fixed dither noise
+ soft body wobble
+ transmission material from #threejsblocks
Inspired by @mamomiji
#threejs #webgpu
playing around with some waves and color mapping
this first variation has 3 lines offset and the next one was similar w different colors
but anyway I want to mess around with the easing of each block changing colors to feel more smooth

big fan of nyc design events where everyone audibly agrees nyc > sf
crushed it @DoubleDiamondHQ @johnbai @kelin_online @scspeier !!!
I believe all experiences are special in their own ways!
I’ve worked at multiple startups, completed a corporate internship, and I'm still in design school. Funny enough, this time last year, I wanted to take a gap year or even drop out entirely. After another year of school, I’m glad I didn’t.
The value of design school, at least CMU Design, isn’t learning how to make pretty visuals. It’s being surrounded by a community that holds an incredibly high standard for the craft. Foundational knowledge matters. Learning the grid matters. Learning when and why to break it is another story entirely.
But its biggest value to me is the freedom to explore. Even in startups where I’ve had a lot of autonomy, business goals, timelines, users, and metrics still shape my work. In design school, I can make a book, design an activism campaign, or explore some completely unreasonable idea just because.
You get to follow ideas, develop taste, fail, and figure out what you actually care about as a designer!
I’m forever grateful to be in the privileged position of attending design school, but it’s not the end-all, be-all. Different experiences bring different perspectives to the same problems, and I think that’s part of what makes the world so beautiful :>>

So honored to be on @cur8dclub ! One of my recent favorite resources :)
this week on @cur8dclub · sep 9–16
this week we added seven designers working across product, web, and interaction design, many of them bridging design with engineering or other disciplines.
there's no particular theme, just a diverse group building consumer apps, exploring creative computation, and working in spaces like web3, ai, and music technology.
featuring @hwwaanng @sloppopp @jyotsnavenk @productsantos @maxxthedesigner @nabhi__s
