To all the folks trying to recreate school at home, with highly structured schedules & worksheets: we teach that way in schools because of CROWD CONTROL, not because it's the best way to learn. Kids have a rare opportunity here to engage in deep, authentic learning instead. 1/

My 10-Year Challenge:
The Average Teacher’s Salary in 2009: $54,319
The Average Teacher’s Salary in 2019: $57,439
That’s an increase of $3,120 over 10 years. Based on the current inflation rate ($1.20 or 1.76%) it should be $65,158.

Have a student you're struggling with?
Try the 'two-by-ten' strategy:
For two minutes each day, 10 days in a row, have a personal conversation with the #student about anything the student is interested in.
Wonderfully simple and wildly effective.

and are expected to be reading in a couple of months.

Kids shouldn't be learning to duck and cover in school. They should learn that we, the adults responsible for protecting them, will act to keep them safe.

THIS IS WHY WE WANT OUR LISTS CLEARED! 🗣#clearthelists #clearthelistseveryday #teachertwitter @support_a_teach @AlaneAdamsBooks @LLPJMadrigal
We visited a classroom and had the teacher point out the materials she provided for her students. We temporarily took out the supplies she purchased to show the impact teachers make.
