Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley warns that there’s a humanitarian crisis in Cuba: unless we all make sure that Cubans have access to basic food and energy, “we put at risk people's lives, from babies to elderly people.”
Keisha Lance Bottoms started the militarized cop city project after we were protesting against Black bodies being brutalized by police departments so I’m extremely unmoved by the representational politics of her win

I disagree. They are future voters. And their political character is formed when young.
Also, what about actual voters having access to politics of under 16?

Angie Nixon ran a FLAWLESS grassroots campaign. Imagine what a little investment in the Florida senate race could’ve gotten her.
No one would’ve imagined she could’ve gotten this close.
Ashley Moody has to run again in 2028 so this can absolutely be a rematch if the party gets to work tomorrow.
ballet is not a high art lol 🤣🤣🤣

Can the people disagreeing with me come up with a better argument than “she’s right tho.” Her concern is with the high arts, only frequented and written about by moneyed gays who hid the glass closet and were forced to organise with working class gays in the AIDS crisis…

In fact she says AIDS killed not only a generation of artists but people who understood & appreciated art, which has had a direct effect on culture. (On the economics of NYC, too.) She didn’t invent this. Sarah Schulman says similar, as do friends of mine who lived through it. 🧵
Now, a 16-year-old Aboriginal girl who gave birth just two months ago is shackled by both ankles to a hospital bed while in police custody in Western Australia.
Act now - ring the AG & Police Minister to demand the shackles be removed

Scenes of Subjection is as good as everyone says it is. Hartman’s analysis of innocent amusements, like dance, song, and entertainment is piercing
thoroughly surprising why everyone is defaulting to solutions of political rhetoric for what is clearly someone suffering an acute mental health crisis & is unable to appreciate the severity of their actions.

If accurate, then any traditional political beliefs he holds matter less than the schizophrenic framework of conspiracism and anti-establishment resentment that festers among highly alienated people (and fuels ON voters). Conspiracy theories need to be stamped out of left spaces.

BREAKING: Iran's IRGC is now threatening to completely cut off the world's internet, with spokesman Hossein Mohebi saying seven major cables run under the Strait of Hormuz that global data depends on, warning: "we are reminding them of this so that the enemy knows," per Fars News.
The threat follows Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf's announcement of a "Persian Gulf Data Authority" and SNSC Secretary Mohsen Rezaee's warning that over $2 trillion in data centers would be destroyed if war resumes.
The significance is the target itself. These cables carry roughly 99% of intercontinental data and trillions in daily financial transactions. A successful strike could wipe out 70% to 90% of the Gulf's internet connectivity, crippling global commerce. Iran is making it clear: if the US strikes its energy infrastructure, the next target will be the digital backbone of the global economy.
