Replying to @Panthera_Arven
Thanks for speaking up. I was wondering who did this and now I just ordered from your Etsy. :)
After a brief period of re-engagement on this hell site run by an idiot manchild, we are returning to our radio silence.
For further announcements about Sofawolf Academy or anything else, follow us over on the (currently) non-Fascist social media alternative.
No table for us this year but both Kit and I will be floating around talking to folks and doing writing panels. (So nice to have the time to do those now!)
Will be the first time I've been to any con since 2019. Kinda weird, but nice to see folks I haven't seen in a while.
Thanks for all the favorites and re-Bloots and comments and questions! We are working our way through the requests and everyone who signed up should have access soon.
Things will likely be a little quiet while we head out to Anthrocon, but we'll start cooking once we get back.

Because we're in Beta, we have "Request to Join" step for now. We don't anticipate needing to limit the community size, but our goal for the next month or two is to get a variety of folks to help us shape it's future.
We have lots more planned, from self-paced courses to workshops, cohorts, and writing challenges run both by Sofawolf pros and guest instructors.
We'll start with writing, but we fully intend to branch out into content for all forms of storytelling from graphic arts to video.
Right now we are re-releasing the original Unsheathed Podcasts AND Kyell Gold and K. M. Hirosaki are recording new sessions in which they review the topics and questions from the old episodes.
Both are presented with subtitles and include full transcripts and episode guides.
Base level membership is FREE and will remain so. Later this year we will introduce additional membership levels that include access to advanced training and support appropriate for individuals seeking to make an income through their writing.
Now, without further Awoo, we are proud to introduce Sofawolf Academy, an online community for all levels of furry storyteller who wish to improve their skills.
We will be in Public Beta for the next couple of months while we build out content and take input from members.
We MAY (probably... likely...) continue to produce new titles and anthologies occasionally, but this will not be our primary focus for the foreseeable future.
We are in the process of getting the titles that have been unavailable for a while back into print via P.O.D. printers.
We will keep the Sofawolf website up, but we'll be retooling all the product pages to point to distributor resources.
I could keep going, but I think that sums it up.
Now for Announcement Part 1!
We will no longer be doing direct distribution, either online or at cons. However most of our titles will remain in print and will be available via fandom distributors, Amazon.com, etc...
5) If I were doing this all over again, I would hire an accountant from Day #1, despite the cost. This was even more important later on in our years of operation when every state you ever put a foot in started coming at you with their hand out.
WA was the best. TX the worst.
4) Everyone worries about bad customers or bad actors online, but honestly we had nothing but great experiences. Everyone was patient, understanding, gracious, generous, and honest.
Perhaps we were lucky, but I think the quality of the people in fandom is a big part of it.
3) If you think we made lots and lots of profit, pardon me while I run the hyena sound loop. I can count the years we actually had a profit on one hand, and most of them were in the first ten years.
Business is expensive, y'all.
2) The best part of all of it was meeting so many fantastic creators and helping them get their work in print. My biggest regret about the last 10-15 years is that I got too busy with logistics and was unable to spend more time helping people improve their works.
Okay in no particular order, some thoughts about 25+ years of small press publishing.
1) Books are hard. Expensive to print, expensive to ship, expensive to store. We're all very proud of the quality and service we provided over the years, but it came at a cost.
Bringing this account out of retirement into semi-retirement.
We'll be announcing 🎉 a few important and (dare I say it) exciting things shortly; and while we'll surface them here, the real action will be going on at the house of the Blue Butterfly (same @).
