Pro desks want self-custody, but they are never going to trade on slow on-chain AMMs.
GSR and Flowdesk are backing Ekiden's $2M seed because they need to build their own tools to trade at scale. They require off-chain matching speed and FIX APIs, but with on-chain settlement to wipe out counterparty risk. 73% of institutional allocators want to scale up this year, but that capital stays on the sidelines until the plumbing looks like a traditional order book.

.@solana faces a massive lazy capital bottleneck. Over 2 million retail wallets holding 1-100 SOL sit completely idle. For these users, a 7% yield on a small bag feels like a rounding error, so they simply avoid the hassle of manual staking.
The network needs to stop chasing new adoption and start prioritizing activation. Success requires native liquid staking or lottery-style premium rewards that make small participation feel meaningful. Solana cannot claim the global internet capital market title while billions in retail liquidity stay trapped on the sidelines.
