South Forsyth High School Turf Management Systems

Our year 3 students completed their final equipment assessments, their End-of-Pathway test, and their Field Day project. Next step for half of these guys is graduation.

As we finish out the year, our year 2 students have their final aeroponic harvest, disassemble, clean, and store for the summer. They also had time to get started training on our fairway unit for next school year

After lunch, Sr. Director of @UGA_Sports_Turf Matt Hollan, gave us a behind the scenes look of their operations. Unique opportunity to see some of the magic that takes place between football seasons with the preparation of fresh sod to be laid.

From there, we traveled to Sanford stadium where we had lunch at the Letterman's Club. Thank you to @turf_hewitt with @SyngentaTurf for providing lunch.

Also as part this experience, we got to hear from @UGAGolfCourse Superintendent, @dfleming2986 He showcased some of the new technology that has been implemented on the course, including GPS guided robo-mowers & spray-tech equipment. And he guided students on sprayer calibration.

We then broke off into stations as part of the @TheFirstGreen experience, headed by @GeorgiaGCSA President @BusekTim We got to hear from industry professionals regarding irrigation design, soil profiles, and a hands-on, cup-changing experience.

First stop was with @GCSAA member and Director of Agronomy @UGAGolfCourse , Scott Griffith. He gave our guys valuable and intriguing insights in his background and the grounds.

Year 3 guys NAILED IT for #MockInterviews @fcspathways

As part of their plant nutrients & fertilizer unit, year 1 students amended their raised beds in the victory garden. They researched their crop nutrient requirements, calculated the growing areas, selected the proper fertilizer amounts, then weighed and applied it to their space.
