Very excited for this story I reported over the last year for @99piorg to finally be out in the world. It's about the changing nature of the battlefield, the business and labor models that evolve from war, and the uncanny blending of fiction and reality. 99percentinvisible.org/episo…

This looks interesting, but what I'm really thinking is - We have "Insta-docs" now?
When the open-source AI platform Hugging Face was hit by a cyberattack this July, it quickly became clear this was no ordinary breach because the hackers weren’t human: they were autonomous agents created by OpenAI researchers.
Instadocs: AI Gone Wild reconstructs the breach as it’s never been seen before. Premieres October 12.

Recently, I have found it very difficult to talk to people even about things as banal as grocery store prices.
One evening at a Pyaterochka supermarket in northeast Moscow, a middle-aged woman brushed off my question about the rising cost of living. “Everything is fine with our prices!”
Few people were willing to even respond to my requests to speak with them. So I had to turn to my own receipts to look at how hard inflation has hit Russia.

People are dragging Nikole Hannah-Jones for this, but I think this piece is incredible. Trying to live your values, discovering it’s not working and having an open conversation with your kid about that is eminently laudable — Pubbing about it even more so. nytimes.com/2026/09/20/magaz…

Two months ago, building one newsroom out of four siloed brands under the same media house felt like a crazy project.
This morning: the front page of the English paper carries a story co-bylined by our news chief for television and the Nepali newsroom’s art & culture reporter — edited and published by colleagues at the Kathmandu Post.
The fact that it organically happened yesterday gives me so much joy.
Yesterday, WIRED learned that Madison Square Garden was suing us for our accurate reporting.

This is a hard article to read, but I hope you'll do so. I've spent some time reporting on widespread rape and other sexual violence of Palestinian male and female prisoners by Israeli authorities, and the article is now published. The assault victims were warned not to give speak of what they endured -- they were sometimes told they would be killed or raped if they gave interviews -- but they found the courage to do so. One man described being raped three times in a single day in Israeli prison, the third time after he tried to protest. A young woman said the guards would come in at the beginning of each shift and strip her naked and abuse her. Another reported that she was shown photos of herself being raped and warned they would be released unless she cooperated with Israeli intelligence. Even three children who had been detained told me they had been sexually abused. Look, whatever our position on the Middle East, we should be able to agree on being anti-rape. Sexual assaults were horrific when Israeli women were targeted on Oct. 7, and they're equally horrific when Israeli authorities use them against Palestinians day after day after day. We should be able to find common ground in opposing rape. Here's a gift link to the article: nytimes.com/2026/05/11/opini…

Jeff Bezos, who could keep the Wash Post a pillar of American democracy with the change dug out from his limousine seats, sets an example of surrender to authoritarianism for every other business person and institution in America.
The @WashPost has now laid off its Asia editor, its New Delhi bureau chief, its Sydney bureau chief, its Cairo bureau chief, the entire Middle East reporting team, China correspondents, Iran correspondents, Turkey correspondents, and many more. The world is becoming less America-centric by the minute while the United States is becoming more America-centric than ever. It is just a depressing yet somehow perfect summation of our current moment that one of the most important newspapers in the history of the country - one that has actually shaped the history of the United States - doesn't think reporting on the world is of any use anymore. What an utterly perfect encapsulation of where we have arrived.
