Update for September 2025 now out. I've been working on refocusing and rewriting (where necessary) the plot, and tightening up the horror elements. Kinda too tired to summarise beyond that but you know how it goes... #gamemaker

The game's inventory and encumbrance system has since been overhauled pretty extensively to no longer focus so much on micromanagement but I still think this system has a lot of potential, and I'd like to revisit it somewhere down the line, maybe in a different project #gamemaker
The plotting is almost finished to satisfaction for the first time in the game's long (and troubled) development, which has entailed a revisiting and reworking of the various electronic tools available to the player #gamemaker
Testing new animation framework for the notebook... for some reason it's taken me just about a decade to realise that I don't have to iterate everything in the working build of the game... #gamemaker
Finally back to regular full-time work, starting by breaking my six-year-long promise to never use lerp... #gamemaker

Heartworm - the retro, fixed camera survival horror inspired game I have been working on for five years is out NOW on Steam. Please check it out if you're into that sort of thing! And if you enjoy it, leave a review as it really helps! Thank you

added player proning. reduces sway and recoil, but makes your body temp drop faster. kinda cool how it makes you notice smaller terrain features

Film criticism, when done well, is supposed to make you think deeper about a film and engage with it in more complex ways. It is not really meant to decide for the entire population whether or not they should see something. You all have agency. You get to decide that yourself.
Injuries are a lot less random now and are much rarer, tied directly to narrative events: but they're just as graphic as before, and require just as much granular attention to effectively address. I wanted to shift the focus more towards minor maladies and discomforts. #gamemaker
