Kimi Antonelli will not be forced to take a fresh PU in Brazil this weekend despite it emerging after the Mexican GP that the engine he used there suffered a cracked sump. Deputy team principal Bradley Lord revealed to the High Performance podcast that the team found the problem only after the race. Lord said: "If you want a sign that this is Kimi's year, we got the car back after the race and took the floor off the bottom - covered in oil. “The sump cracked and Kimi says he thinks about four laps to the end he could feel the engine just starting to struggle. Right on the edge of retirement of the race and yet it held together.” Antonelli still has enough components in his engine pool to get through Brazil without issue, as Mercedes continues to work on introducing its ADUO 1 upgrade before the end of the campaign. #F1
