Lieutenant, why didn't you see the @porsche product launch?

Double descent is fascinating. The scaling breakthrough was veiled. Past a certain size neural nets perform increasingly worse as they hit interpolation. Only at about 16x the params of the first optimum does the second sustained descent become obvious. For years, scaling past the first optimum was considered unsophisticated in research circles. Then somebody just did the "dumb" thing and the descent kept going to 1T+ models.

Apps that constantly log you out are the worst. Do I like a hammer that requires me to reattach the handle each time before swinging it? No, you confused idiots! I form relationships with my tools. Good tools are body extensions embedded in my mental model of the world. If you detach them at random I have no sympathy for you or your compromised sorry creation. If you think this is no big deal, you have no style or taste and are infantilizing your users. I'll replace your stupid-ass app at the first opportunity. Peace out.

Seeing all the Europeans traveling to the World Cup and getting white pilled about the US is one of the best things happening in a while. Just so much good energy. The doomer and decel class can suck it. Happy 250, 🇺🇸America!

Not sure what the point of Opus 4.7 and 4.8 is. Who ordered models that lack focus and compensate by bloviating. Very noticeable on complex tasks. 4.6 is still King.

Interesting. Great prompting too.
Merz has called for the systematic review of all EU legislation. That's over 140,000 regulations. Knowing the EU, that will take over 140,000 days. So, I made bettereu.com where Grok 4.1 will review every document since 1958 -> 2025.

Just confirmed that @Apple Migration Assistant is basically on par with a drunk monkey. After 6 hours of copying 600k files, only some random 5% showed up on the new system, and none of the apps or configurations made it.

I would rather deal with customs across European countries than this monstrosity.
Just a month later and... 🇪🇺 ChatControl is back! Now they're trying to pass an even more far reaching ChatControl law through the back door, in a form even more intrusive than the originally rejected plan, without needing any of the EU countries votes The new proposal: - total mandatory surveillance of ALL text chats, emails and social media in the EU - obligatory registration of your ID/passport to your chat, email or social media account - minimum age requirement for chat, email and social media apps of 16 (!) The only way to stop this law is if EU countries veto it Read more here by @echo_pbreyer: patrick-breyer.de/en/chat-co…

EU going hard on their brand of "democracy" again. If there is anything Europeans can agree on it should be the preservation of private conversations, i.e. end-to-end encryption in chats. If we cannot maintain that, what are we even doing?
The EU Chat Control proposal would be a catastrophe for Europe. It would seal Europeans behind a new digital Berlin wall, cut off from Signal and other e2e messengers. It's embarrassing and dangerous that it's gotten this close already. Time to bail to back to sanity.

Fictional stories often yield higher order truths. That's what makes a good story. This is basically the art of cinema. Bad movies make you feel like you ate too much sugar because they don't reveal any truth. There's no reason to expect AI video won't follow along the same differentiating line.

#gopro's way, battery dies today. The only thing I can consistently achieve with these crap devices is to run out of battery. UI/UX is basically "oh the battery is empty again" and "oh, it did not charge from the external battery pack" and "oh, it drained itself even without using it". What are the last words before something interesting happens? "The gopro just died"
