On 07 November 1972, Bette Midler unleashed her debut album, The Divine Miss M, upon an unsuspecting America, and popular music was never quite the same. We put this one on the turntable and didn’t take it off for the next 6 months. It was something new, fun, and terrifically gay. Here was a brassy, bawdy, gloriously vulgar redhead with the voice of an angel, the mouth of a longshoreman, and the risqué wardrobe of a wildly flamboyant bordello madam. At New York’s Continental Baths, with Barry Manilow at the piano, where she had been belting out torch songs and dropping double entendres as shameless as her audience dropping its towels, Bette single-handedly launched a new age of nostalgia and resurrected old-fashioned showbiz glamour with enough camp to make the Boy Scout Annual Jamboree look like a church picnic. Bette and the Baths—it was a match made in heaven. Or at least in a steam room. Transferring her already legendary act to vinyl, for the LP, with Barry shaping the sound, Bette recreated forgotten oldies, reinvented girl-group classics, and made "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" sound as though Patty, Maxene, and LaVerne had spent a particularly memorable weekend in P-town. The album became a smash, went platinum, and earned Bette the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. America had discovered its newest sweetheart—but one more likely to tell a dirty joke than kiss a baby. And the gays sanctified their very own goddess. Fifty-four years later, The Divine Miss M remains a monument to talent, theatrical excess, and the enduring proposition that good taste is terribly overrated.🏳️‍🌈

Not on topic, but I’ll never understand why Fox News is stationed in New York City when they are absolutely terrified of the people in it. Why don’t they move their headquarters to Mississippi or Alabama?
Erika Kirk is simply a horrible actress.

Over 200,000 Florida republicans voted for a guy who raped his toddler grandson. But please continue to lecture about how democrats can’t be Christians

Watch this MAGA guy tweak the fuck out when I hit him with the numbers on who actually runs up the debt. (Spoiler: it’s Republicans. By a lot.)

It wasn't the sexual assault allegations. It wasn't the coup attempt on January 6th. It wasn't the racism. It wasn't the transphobia. It was the price of gas and groceries. As great as last night was, the sad reality is that Americans didn't care until it affected their wallets

Florida did benefit from the blue wave, but not in a way that’s made headlines: Republicans lost their supermajority in the Florida House after Democrats flipped 16 seats. It is now their smallest majority in 30 years, which means we can actually hold the new governor accountable

People of Florida. Y’all better hold your damn head high. We broke state legislature super majorities because we drove turnout while everyone wrote us off. We have work to do sure, but let’s celebrate the fact we won 17 seats down ballot. I’m an organizer. And I look forward to getting back to what I love and know best. Organizing THE HELL out of my state. Let’s get to work!

We won every Congressional seat they tried to gerrymander to hell, broke the GOP supermajorities in the legislature, flipped 16 state house seats — the most by any party in over 60 years, & more. The top of the ticket hurts, but we had huge wins with enormous ramifications.

Worth noting in the last 3 years that Florida’s republican governorship vetoed over $4 million dollars in drainage improvement projects in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties alone. Election Day is tomorrow.

The Bible spent centuries warning Christians about false prophets, and MAGA took one look at a convicted felon selling Bibles and said, "That's our Messiah."
Trump says that he will "take Christians to the promise land. And I've done that."

A plane crashes in Florida, lives are lost, and within HOURS the blue-checkmark crowd is blaming a female pilot and screaming “DEI.” Here's the problem: They don't understand how a two-pilot cockpit works. As a pilot, I'm disgusted. Watch this before you embarrass yourself.

Here are 5 random examples of Abdul El-Sayed condemning anti-Semitism
Here the thing on Michigan: This is all on El-Sayed. He has never, ever condemned antisemitism and Israel hate. Never. He just hasn’t. And he’s had a million opportunities to do so. He would easily condemn racism against black people. But not antisemitism against Jews. El-Sayed may still win, but he’s the reason this race is super close. He’s the reason black and Jewish voters in Michigan won’t vote Democrat this year. This is all on him.

That's just not true, Joe! “My commitment to Jewish safety is the same as my commitment to the safety of my own daughters. Antisemitism is a scourge, and we need to address it in all its forms. And I stand against any rhetoric that puts the community at risk." He's said this 1000 times and you guys just ignore it!
