⚖️ WA Supreme Court ⚖️ 5 of 9 seats are on the ballot this November. Handy acronym for the more Constitutional slate: remember the acronym LOBES: Larson. O’Donnell. Bloom. Edwards. Stevens (NOT Stephens.)

Easy, minimal steps WA officials can take… even in this election, to help assure voters: 1) Collect and report how many ballots are received with witness attestation. Make this auditable. Report it by precinct. This doesn’t compromise personally identifiable info in any way. If the total is higher than 0.4% of all ballots, that is a signal that it is being abused. 2) Same for “print at home” ballots. 3) Report these stats with each ballot count drop. 4) Stop defending federal inquiry into voter rolls and, along with dozens of other states, give the Feds the data they are seeking.

Press conference from Seattle regarding noncitizens voting and being registered to vote. Due to the uncooperative state officials, it is a slow process. So far they have identified 400 illegal voters who voted in multiple elections, but suspect it will turn out to be thousands.

WA voters, please get your ballots in. YES on I-645 to repeal the income tax, before it comes for most households. The law attempts to establish that your income is not your property. But WA case precedent (and common sense) clearly says otherwise.
If you vote "Yes," it will repeal the illegal income tax. It will not reduce funding to schools or human services because the tax doesn't go into effect until 2029. So we aren't taking anything away. Starbucks left because of this. Microsoft has threatened to move jobs out of state. Amazon now employs nearly 15,000 fewer people in Seattle than at its peak. Seattle is second to last in the number of VC deals that closed in Q3. Holding a small number of companies and rich people hostage, when they have options, is a foolish strategy that is already backfiring spectacularly. The real solution to our problems is to reduce taxes on businesses and income. Why even tax people under 25 at all? Give families with children a HUGE tax credit. Make this state an incredible place to do business and have a family. Encourage entrepreneurs to come here. Get startups, agencies, and smart, motivated people to build here. We can increase overall state revenue if more people make stuff, employ people, and create more value for everyone here. Not by chasing them out of the state and creating a hostile environment for business. Remember this: governments and taxes don't make jobs. Entrepreneurs do.

WA Public Disclosure Commission responds to @TCSWashington questions about lifting campaign contribution limits days before election. Question from TCS-"Given PDC does not have the authority to set a law aside, on what basis is the commission doing so?" PDC response-"You are correct that the Commission does not have the authority to change state law or to rule on the underlying constitutionality of the law. The law is still in effect. The agency does have prosecutorial discretion in enforcement matters and can give staff direction and guidance on enforcement priorities, as it has done here." thecentersquare.com/washingt…

Our state auditor found over $1.3 billion dollars of unauditable childcare spending in recent years. WA doesn’t need friendly relations with other countries. We need to get our act together here at home. Stop the fraud and wasteful spending!
It's important that Washington state works with our partners around the world, especially given our challenges at the federal level. That's not a political statement — that's a factual statement. We as a state value our partnerships and want that to continue.

Olympia cooked the golden goose. Microsoft just offered buyouts to roughly a quarter of its workforce — about 60,000 people — as it tries to shrink head count without another round of layoffs. Meanwhile Olympia keeps raising taxes. And Washington employers are looking for the exit. In the Association of Washington Business’s spring 2026 survey, nearly 1 in 4 employers were considering moving their business out of Washington — almost triple the share in winter 2025. Only 7% rated the state’s economy strong or very strong. And 38% planned to expand somewhere else, compared with just 9% planning to expand here. Those are warning signs. When businesses leave — or put the next expansion in another state — the jobs go with them. Olympia should make Washington a better place to start a company, hire people, and build a future. A new income tax takes us the other way. I’m voting Yes on I-645 to repeal it. We need employers building here. Vote Yes on I-645. seattletimes.com/business/mi…

An income tax is on the ballot. A YES on I-645 repeals it. A NO (or a nonvote) keeps it in place and it WILL hit most households in just a few years. WA’s leaders have not demonstrated they can reduce spending growth, so get ready to file and pay WA state taxes.

btw @grok, can you estimate how much Microsoft Corp has impacted the WA economy, ballpark, including secondary effects? Revenue growth — even profit growth — might continue strongly, but if headcount is reduced by 10%, 20% or 30%, what’s the likely hit to the WA revenue coffers?

One of the least cared-for neighborhoods and communities in Seattle. Policy here has been anything but “compassionate.”
Four months ago, Katie Wilson told the residents of Chinatown that she pledged to bring order to the area. Let's check in on that pledge with one of the remaining restaurant owners in the neighborhood; "I don't feel very safe. I have to park my car in front of my restaurant and I keep my eye on my car...we don't want to see smoking of drugs outside. We see a lot of restaurants close in this plaza." Thank you to FOX 13's Dan Griffin for keeping this neighborhood's plight in the news.

Microsoft just offered a quarter of its workforce the door, Windows and Copilot included. Olympia is writing a 2028 budget on 21,500 million-dollar households, a lot of them paid in vesting stock. Those households are the forecast, the spending is coming no matter what. Next up, you.
seattletimes.com/business/mi… "Microsoft is offering buyouts to about 60,000 employees, or roughly a quarter of its workforce, as the company tries to control its head count while avoiding layoffs." Am I misunderstanding this or is the greater Seattle area cooked 😳

That’s a whole lot of lifestyle change for King County area families. Adds potentially tens of thousands to the “thinking seriously about moving” moment. I’m sure heaping new taxes on the public, ignoring fraud, record level state spending, and worsening outcomes will help. It’s going great, @GovBobFerguson

Pro Tip: In the current X algorithm, muting a user actually penalizes that user’s reach more than blocking that user. In X’s open-sourced ranking code, a mute carries a -58.8 weight versus -31.2 for a block in the Phoenix model’s scoring of the “For You” recommendations.

Periodically reviewing your muted list is a good idea. On mobile, you can see a list of accounts you’ve muted as follows: 1. Tap your profile picture (or the navigation menu icon) in the top-left corner. 2. Tap Settings and privacy. 3. Tap Privacy and safety. 4. Under Safety, tap Muted. 5. Tap Muted accounts. You’ll see the full list. Tap the mute icon next to any account to unmute it.
