There were five slave trades. You were taught about only one. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧 One. The Atlantic. Twelve million Africans shipped to the Americas. Britain banned it in 1807, then hunted it for sixty years. Two. The Barbary trade. A million Europeans taken to North Africa. Britain bombarded Algiers in 1816. Three. The Saharan trade. A thousand years of caravans north across the desert. Britain had its northern end banned. Tripoli, 1857. Four. The East African trade. Twenty thousand people a year through one customs house. Britain forced the market shut. 5 June 1873. Five. The Ottoman trade. Raiders sold Eastern Europeans south for three hundred years. Britain made the Sultan ban it in 1854. It cost sixty years and two thousand sailors. Nobody else fought all five. 🙏🇬🇧 It isn't over. Mauritania only made it a crime in 2007. Fifty million people are in slavery today. Someone has to remember who started the fight. ⚓🇬🇧💪

All the cunt MPs making TikToks about storing emergency beans and water made no mention of WEAPONS. It’s not 1944, the people will not pull together because THEY imported the enemy. If power goes out, hostile foreign men will engage in an orgy of theft looting and raping.

'Look at the following statements and ask yourself: which ones are true, and which are false? - Under the last Conservative government, a charity whose Migration Fund supports open borders was awarded more than £1 million in government grants - USAID (the United States Agency for International Development, which President Trump and Elon Musk dismantled) was awarded tens of millions from UK taxpayers - The Home Office has a contract with a charity called Migrant Help worth hundreds of millions of pounds - Taxpayers were charged £841,830 to fund a university project “The Europe that Gay Porn Built, 1945–2000”' Find out the answers in my long-read for @TheCriticMag thecritic.co.uk/issues/novem…

Modern Shakespeare criticism often treats Shakespeare's achievement as the depiction of complex human psychology and messy human emotions. While those elements are certainly present, elevating them to the primary purpose of the plays can obscure what Shakespeare is actually doing. The characters are not merely psychological portraits. They are instruments through which structural failures are explored: failures of governance, justice, succession, ambition, loyalty, faction, perception, and authority. Hamlet is not principally a study of indecision. It is a study of the consequences of uncertainty within a corrupted political order. King Lear is not primarily about aging and family dysfunction. It is about the collapse of judgment, authority, and social structure. Othello is not fundamentally about jealousy. It is about how manipulation exploits vulnerabilities already embedded within a military and social system. Macbeth is not merely psychological deterioration. It is an examination of how illegitimate power destroys both ruler and polity. In this view, psychology is secondary. Emotions matter because they are the mechanism through which larger structural forces become visible. Shakespeare repeatedly shows individuals operating within systems whose flaws generate predictable disasters. The audience's attention is drawn to the human experience, but the artistic architecture lies beneath it. If this is correct, then much modern criticism risks mistaking the vehicle for the destination. By treating Shakespeare primarily as an observer of human feelings, it can overlook the extent to which he functions as an analyst of institutions, incentives, power structures, and failures of judgment. The emotional richness of the characters is not the end of the inquiry. It is the means by which the deeper pattern is revealed. Ironically, this can diminish rather than elevate Shakespeare's artistry. To praise him merely for creating realistic emotions is to credit him with a skill many novelists share. His more distinctive achievement may be his ability to embed structural analysis within compelling drama, allowing audiences to experience failures of systems and authority through the lives of individuals. The result is not simply great psychology. It is a sophisticated architecture of cause and consequence disguised as human drama.

If you’re a parent do pay attention to this terrible bill. The law already protects young people from coercion & harm, this bill will just criminalise loving parents worried for their, very often gay or autistic children. They plan to take away your parental rights to parent

British actor Simon Pegg appears in video calling for donations for Palestine; calls Gaza a “nightmare” for children. “Gaza is still a nightmare for children. Many are so traumatized they can no longer eat, sleep or even speak.”
