These guys being hired to me indicate that a GM hire outside of the organization is less and less likely.
Why?
Well these hires could be made more easily if the new GM was in house and helping make these moves.
Just a hunch…
The Astros are hiring Conner Watson as their new director of hitting, source tells @TheAthletic. Watson, a former Driveline employee, worked as the Cleveland Guardians assistant director of hitting development for the past two years.

With the recent additions to the @astros player development what do you think this indicates? This off another announcement by @Chandler_Rome and @brianmctaggart of the #astros hiring a new director of hitting... Would love your thoughts in the thread

Don’t get me wrong!
I loved Jeff Bagwell as a player, I just don’t think he’s the right man for a GM! Maybe I’m wrong, I just would like them to aggressively pursue someone with experience.
It seems like it could be a strong possibility at this point. #chasethefight

That would knock out Jeremy Pena who has 1.5 years left till FA. I mean the #redsox have one in Arias why not wait on him? He’s your “LONG TERM” option…
The Red Sox haven’t stopped pursuing infield bats and one rival evaluator said the belief is that the Red Sox are looking for a “long-term” option at shortstop, per @ChrisCotillo and @Sean_McAdam.

If the AL West continues to beat up on the @RaysBaseball I already anticipate them going after Skubal, they might just be the angry kids at the table and try to take everyone they can.

. #astros vs #guardians
These two franchises have met 100 times in the regular season, and neither side has been able to gain an edge. The series is dead even at 50 wins apiece. It’s also split right down the middle in both cities, with Houston holding a 25-25 record at home and a 25-25 mark in Cleveland.
At Daikin Park, the teams are tied 22-22, and they were just as even in the Astrodome, finishing 3-3 there as well.
