Job alert: I’m hiring two postdocs! The first is a 24 month position looking at the first anatomical radiation of ray-finned fishes during the mid-late Palaeozoic; the second is a 33 month position looking at macroevolutionary trends in ray-finned fishes during the Palaeozoic 🐟

Thesis submitted! 🥳🥳🥳 The most enormous thanks to @GilesPalaeoLab who has been endlessly supportive and the best mentor a PhD student could ask for. And thanks to all the other people who have helped me along the way! #PhDone

It seems that our article (w. @emmadnn) on publication pressure in palaeontology is out in the Geological Curator, in the volume edited by @BdfJjl. We wrote this more than a year ago, with material that we had from working on our other projects. doi.org/10.55468/GC1458

Also any joining @ThePalAss, tune in to session 4 at 9.10 am GMT to hear more from @emmadnn on the work we have been doing regarding the issues around Myanmar amber
Replying to @palaeodaniel
Since we're talking about colonialism in paleontology, I really recommend @mauritiantales's talk at @PalaeoPERCS to everyone interested in the subject: xitter.cf/mauritiantales/status/…

My week has been made infinitely better by this GORGEOUS CT scan. The fossil is a ~335 million year old fish from the Carboniferous of Scotland. The light grey in the X-ray slice is rock and the darker grey bone. Even cooler - this specimen was collected 131 years ago in 1888!
