Glad this paper with @guido_imbens is out in the JEP. The LaLonde paper has had a big impact on my academic journey and continues to teach us about the challenges and possibilities of conducting credible inference using nonexperimental data. aeaweb.org/articles?id=10.12… Many thanks to Tim for the tireless editing and suggestions. @TimothyTTaylor

In a new open access paper with detailed data from India, we show how important competitive, private-sector service provision can be for widespread technology adoption in the small farm sector. Great work by Subash and cooperation with @CIMMYT team. doi.org/10.1016/j.agwat.2025…

With representative panel data frm five countries we show that animal-sourced foods (ASF) help improve child nutrition in Africa. Reduction of ASF is important where consumption is high, but we need to differentiate between rich & poor. Congrats, @makaiko doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2319009…

In Indonesia, we show that cultural marriage customs reinforce nutritional inequalities. Patrilocality leads to higher male & lower female BMI. Bridewealth leads to rising obesity among men & women. Nutrition policies need to consider such cultural factors doi.org/10.1016/j.foodpol.20…

Using data from Ethiopia, we show that drought shocks reduce agr. yields & lead to off-farm labor reallocation. Yet, off-farm employment opportunities are rare. Strengthening the non-farm economy is important to enhance climate resilience in rural Africa. doi.org/10.1093/erae/jbae020

Our new paper: environmental effects of #GMO are positive in some, negative in other cases. They depend on the modified trait, not the GM breeding process. Efficient regulation could facilitate new traits with unambiguously positive environmental effects. science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…
