Every road in south Delhi seems to be choked and not one traffic cop in sight. Never seen Delhi like this ever before. Construction agencies too are having a free run of the city. JCBs racing in traffic nowadays

No antidote for stupidity of some Indians. This traffic island at C R Park was demolished, small strip retained to deter people from feeding pigeons, pests which pose serious health threat, keep other species out. Droppings are acidic. People are now feeding them on road

Langurs in the morning, and monkeys a couple of hours later. Chittaranjan Park last couple of months. Waiting for the two to come face to face. Why are langurs turning up so often? Behaviour not natural

Becoming the national character. Profiteering at the cost of the customer. Builders, corporate hospitals, cab providers, elite schools…and, of course, your autowallah
🚨SHOCKING - FIR against Malabar: A man walked into a Malabar Gold showroom in Bilaspur with a simple request: exchange his old 22-carat HUID-hallmarked bracelet. The staff ran it through their XRF machine. Once. Twice. Three times. Every reading came back the same: 20 carat. They even told him the hallmark didn’t exist. He called the local jeweller who had sold him the bracelet. The jeweller walked in, confirmed the HUID, and asked them to test it again. Same machine. Same bracelet. Same room. This time an employee adjusted something on the machine. Suddenly the reading flipped to 916 - pure 22 carat. The jeweller recorded everything. The Sarafa Association arrived. Police registered an FIR against the showroom manager and the machine operator. The machine and DVR were seized. This wasn’t a small local shop. This was Malabar Gold “the chain that advertises trust, purity, and BIS standards across India”. One bracelet. Two readings. An 8% gap in gold value. And the only thing that changed was who was watching. If a hallmarked piece can magically lose two carats the moment a customer wants to exchange it, and magically regain them the moment someone pushes back, what exactly is the machine testing? Customers don’t walk into Malabar expecting a calibration error that only appears when they’re selling gold. They walk in expecting the purity printed on their receipt. The FIR is real. The readings are on record. The machine was seized. Malabar still hasn’t explained why the same piece of gold needed a “setting” before it became 22 carat again. Until they do, this isn’t a machine glitch. It’s a business model.

Those against capping number of e-rickshaws are vested interests and not experts. E-rickshaws have become a menace and their unchecked growth is clogging roads. These are also driven rashly — without headlights — and parked randomly. Urgent action needed indianexpress.com/article/ci…

If cops want to clamp down on noise, they should look at MCD’s garbage collection vehicles which create a terrible din by relentlessly playing a song on loop. Can’t a simple call to action suffice? It’s like poll season for 15 mins every morning. Destroys morning’s serenity

From Prof Biswajit Dhar, a resident of Chittaranjan Park: Yesterday (Saturday 17 October) evening, about 20 CRPF jawans armed with lathis marched into the B Block Puja Pandal in CR Park at 11.30 pm, when large number of people were celebrating the festival with family and friends. The Puja Committee members strongly protested against this intrusion and chased them out. I took this video when they were outside the main gate. Several of us lent our voices in support of the Puja Committee members arguing that any police interference in our most important festival was just not acceptable. Durga Puja is not a festival for only the Bengalis, but all other communities also get together to enjoy themselves. This is what I have seen for as long I can remember. Why then were paramilitary forces sent to spoil the atmosphere in such a festival? Should we now expect intimidation by the paramilitary forces whenever we congregate? We must demand answers before it is too late.

Flydubai pilot Smit Machchhar’s heroism has made news around world and both people & political leaders want to honour him. The focus, however, must shift to his condition. He has serious injuries, including one on skull, that should worry us. This needs attention and concern

Convergence of traffic from Lodhi Rd & Lodhi Rd flyover at Oberoi Hotel has become daily pain because of jutting shrine-tyre shop and parking of trucks & other vehicles servicing hotel. Number of lanes shrink to barely 2.5. Why are police allowing this? @CPDelhi @dtptraffic

Hotel should be asked to park trucks inside and no parking should be allowed here. Also, why have shops sprung up a little ahead under Oberoi flyover? People stop there obstructing traffic. Are civic bodies and cops sleeping?

On Ajmer Vande Bharat to Delhi in EC chair car, 3 women giggling, laughing, video chatting, playing cards without pause. Also, 4 traders loudly discussing deals with lot of backslapping for 2.5 hrs. Public behaviour that won’t be acceptable anywhere. No wonder we’re ugly Indians

In cities across country, cops are visibly controlling traffic (Jaipur to Mumbai) but in Delhi, they’re invisible. No shortage of cops for VIP duty and protests but traffic, it has been seemingly decided, doesn’t need to be monitored or controlled. Let Delhiites suffer

Caught between courts, and civic and forest officials, Delhi now looks like a jungle. Very little pruning done and tree branches are hanging low, bushes and plants on dividers are sticking out and traffic lights are covered. Ugly & dangerous. Who takes the blame? Anyone there?

And the dense foliage of trees which have not been pruned for a long time is blocking streetlights. Noticed this while going to Cantt railway station from Chittaranjan Park at dawn today. This is a safety issue which needs urgent attention

Pre-book facility on Uber is totally deceptive. Four drivers cancelled in 24 hours, one just 30 mins before coming. One of them was rude when called. Had to call my local taxi. Would have missed my train. Govt should penalise for service deficiency @Uber

Govt needs to tighten the screws on these app-based ride providers. They have no accountability and they penalise customers for their own deficiencies. The courts could perhaps intervene. Bot-based customer support has stock reasons, not genuine feedback @Uber
35
And for putting me through a lot of anxiety, they have charged me Rs 59 as cancellation fee. When drivers repeatedly cancel, do you expect customer to be sure about the last one, so close to booked time. Shameful to penalise customer when your system stinks @Uber
