There’s an FDA-approved peptide that targets cancer cells and delivers radiation to destroy them.
It’s called Lutathera. In a Phase 3 trial, it reduced the risk of tumor progression or death by 79%.
Here's the breakdown: (1/14)
None of this is risk-free, but the trial results show the trade-off can be worth it.
And these tumors probably aren’t the only ones with a receptor a peptide can lock onto.
If researchers manage to find more, this approach could spread well beyond the gut and pancreas.
This study does not show that more cannabis makes your brain bigger or your thinking better.
If that were true, the heaviest users should consistently have the biggest hippocampus and the best cognitive scores.
Yet, they didn’t.
Most of the differences were between non-users and people who had used cannabis 1-100 times in their life.
The >100-use group was not consistently better.
And the effect itself was tiny. Cannabis-use group was associated with only about 0.1% of the differences in brain volume and 0.7% of the differences in cognitive scores.
Data on 35,000+ adults: the more cannabis you’ve used in life, the bigger your hippocampus and the better your brain works after 40!
People who had ever used cannabis tended to have larger brain volume in key areas that are full of natural cannabis-like receptors (especially the hippocampus, amygdala, caudate, and putamen – these areas are important for memory, emotions, learning, and movement).
The more cannabis someone had used in their lifetime, the larger these brain areas were and the better they performed on tests of learning, processing speed, and short-term memory.
