#BiennaleCinema2026 #OpeningCeremony @mgyllenhaal, President of #Venezia83 International Jury: “When I go to the movies, I am not interested in perfection, seductive as it may be. My favourite films are ones where a filmmaker invites me into their mind (and the minds of their collaborators) and lets me take a look around. I’m interested in having an interaction with something human. Even if that human has a very different experience or point of view than I do.”

Two months after opening, the #BiennaleArte2026 continues to offer a different way of engaging with the present – one attuned to #InMinorKeys, to the “whisper that brings us back to authenticity”, to the “human relationships, starting from people’s own backyards”, and to “the little things, which are also great ones”. Featuring the work of artists, duos, collectives and organisations from around the world, the Exhibition invites visitors to tune into “undercurrent frequencies” that can reveal new forms of presence, connection and imagination, bringing us “back to Earth, to our bodies, and our senses” → bit.ly/BiennaleArte_2026

How do you write a love letter to someone who can no longer be reached? How do you give voice to absence, or shape to what remains beyond words? What might happen if we relinquished the comfort of certainty and allowed ourselves to see the world anew, opening ourselves to unexpected possibilities? And how can a voice be returned to those who have endured exile, enslavement, subjugation and displacement? Through poetry and ancient drama, spoken word and music, through signs that surface and echoes that endure, #AlbertoColomboSormani (#BiennaleCollegeTeatro), @DorcyRugamba, @CStergioglou and @Dragontribe explore these questions, weaving together “a constellation of diverse experiences and cultural contexts that are capable of reimbuing theatre with its original purpose”, and inviting us to “see everything we thought we knew with fresh eyes”.
