This continues to absolutely crack me up. But who are the "Pauls" Elmo/Lorne is name dropping? Lorne seems to hang out with every boomer celeb so I'm guessing one must be Paul McCartney. Is the other one Paul Simon? Paul Newman? Paul Rudd??
@paulscheer??
What is it called when a woman has this kind of smooshed in nose? I love this look.

I feel the same way about, no kidding, Magnum PI.
Thomas Magnum romances a new beautiful woman every week but he's never written as a playboy or a cad. He's super respectful, kind, a good listener, and isn't afraid to be gentle around women.
Such a lost archetype -- a gentle military veteran who sees women as his equal and not just a weekly conquest. If he were written today he'd be just another vet bro mouth breather.
Already seeing this with secular homeschooling and the increasing privatization of tutoring, math/SAT prep classes, specialized primary and secondary schools, etc.
A lot of parents with means are basically curating private, highly customized middle and high school curricula for their offspring. It does not follow the traditional "competitive prep school" model of prior generations.
We have already seen a defection from the traditional WASP elite idea that it was an elite duty to hold the population to high educational standards, for the betterment of the entirety of society. This has led to stupidity. AI will make it worse.
I predict that High IQ well off functional people will form communities to protect themselves from sloppification, while everyone degenerates into this numb, sterile mass of jellyfishness. A Snow Crash-like scenario.
And the "well intentioned" will clap like seals, supporting the lowering of standards, much like what we've seen for the last decades, which will affect the masses and not already privileged the most.
My daughter really liked Young Sheldon and I watched most of it with her. After only a few eps I was short of shocked to find that it very well written, superbly acted, and overall one of the best sitcoms I've seen since the golden age of Thursday night NBC.
Until a few months ago I had never seen an episode of BBT...but when I finally watched a few I found that they were exactly the kind of lowest common denominator replacement-level TV I had suspected they would be.
I think the audiences for Young Sheldon and for BBT are very different. I'm not surprised that anyone involved in Young Sheldon resents having the mediocrity of BBT leech into what they were able to accomplish.
Annie Potts says that Jim Parsons returning as Sheldon in the ‘YOUNG SHELDON’ finale broke her heart.
“I thought the show could have ended [with young Sheldon] and not to the dreaded scene with Jim & Mayim as Sheldon & Amy revealing he was unchanged and unrepentant.
That gave me a stomach ache. It was like, ‘Who crashed our party?! Who invited you?'”

Mellon Collie is peak alt rock album construction -- largely unlistenable, but seeded with 2-3 individual songs that are era defining instant classics.
Nothing is more pathetic than upper middle class men not getting exactly what they want and then turning to social media to "make it right".
The sickening stories keeping coming in…😢😢😢
SHAME ON YOU, @StubHub.
Imagine being a kid, a HUGE @Brewers fan, and finding out you’re going to see your team play in the WORLD SERIES! ⚾️💙💛
The excitement. The anticipation. The memories you’re already imagining making.
Now imagine having that excitement ripped away because a company sold your 3 tickets that you bought, that they apparently can’t deliver.
That’s exactly what we’re dealing with right now.
We purchased THREE tickets to the Milwaukee Brewers World Series for Game 1 last Tuesday(13th) through StubHub. We selected our section, our row, paid for our tickets, and received our order confirmation.
Everything was supposed to be set.
Then suddenly, StubHub tells us they’re “searching for replacement options” because they can’t provide the tickets we purchased.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
How does a company accept someone’s hard earned money, confirm a purchase, and then turn around and say they can’t fulfill it?!
And their solution? We can request a refund while they continue looking for tickets.
THIS ISN’T ABOUT THE MONEY.
It’s about the experience. It’s about the memories. It’s about the excitement of a kid, his dad, and grandpa, who thought they were going to watch their favorite baseball team play on the biggest stage in baseball.
Look at the first picture. That’s the disappointment you’re creating, StubHub.
A refund doesn’t replace that moment.
And here’s what really bothers me…
StubHub advertises a “FanProtect Guarantee” and tells customers their orders are “100% guaranteed.”
Guaranteed WHAT, exactly?!
Because from where we’re sitting, that guarantee doesn’t feel worth much when you can’t deliver the tickets you sold us.
We did everything right. We purchased through a major ticket marketplace. We trusted the confirmation. We trusted the guarantee.
Now it’s time for StubHub to make it right.
We aren’t asking for anything extra. We want the three tickets we paid for, or comparable or better seats together, at no additional cost.
Stubhub…DO BETTER.
Please SHARE this. Not just for us, but for every fan who has trusted a ticket company with an experience that means so much more than the price of admission.

When arty Gen X ladies hit 50 they're issued makeup remover, striped L/S tees and a variety pack of linen jumpers. This will become The Outfit both at home and for every function.
I'm not sure yet what happens at 60.
Sometimes I flirt with the idea of becoming a full on anarcho-syndicalist but I also find it hard to square that with my job at the bank and also my desire to maintain ownership of the various possessions I've accumulated. It's a conundrum.
In S3E10 of The Americans Philip and Elizabeth tell their daughter Paige that they are Russian spies.
Paige understandably freaks out and stays home from school to process the fact that her entire world is a lie.
Philip and Elizabeth proceed to leave her home alone while they go to work at the travel agency.
They do debate whether or not to go, but focus mainly on whether Paige is going to turn them into the FBI. Philip says that "she won't do anything stupid" and they need to go to work and "hold our breath and wait".
They should have had Paige on 24/7 suicide watch, but in the 80s this wasn't considered a thing. Tearing your child's entire world down and then fucking off to work is peak Boomer behavior.
Philip and Elizabeth have never been more authentic as Americans than in this moment.
Kelly Clarkson vs Boy Magician is such an excellent setting for culture war discourse because it’s totally impenetrable while also predictably battle line driven.
Kelly Clarkson is for America B.
Twee Brooklyn boutique is for anyone who’s oppressed by student loan debt.
Kelly Clarkson: I was treated badly at a hipster magic shop
Art of Play: look, a pterodactyl! [vanishes in a poof of smoke]
Another update from Art of Play, the Brooklyn store Kelly Clarkson criticized on Saturday in a viral tweet.
Check my timeline for the previous back-and-forth.

ALT Screenshot of @artofplay’s statement about Kelly Clarkson’s Saturday visit. The store says she spent five minutes there and asked about Molly, a mechanical bird puppet permanently attached to the wall. It says Seattle artist Bliss Kolb owns a nearly identical automaton and would sell it for $15,000, and that staff explained this to Clarkson. The store also says it offered to show her a German-made singing-bird automaton costing about $2,000 that she could take home that day, but she left before seeing it. Art of Play says it has contacted her directly, wishes her well and hopes they can laugh about the misunderstanding.
Keri Russell in The Americans is absolute catnip for a certain kind of millennial girlboss.
She's super skinny (thigh gap!), wears giant fuck me boots (so chic!), and has a hot sex life with both her domestic husband and a never ending rotation of strange men (empowering!)
She's a next-gen Samantha for girls who were born in the 80s and early 90s.
It's impossible to watch your girl getting it on with her 3rd hippie in 2 days and not develop a "my bitch wife" culture.
Least suspenseful cliffhanger in TV history is when Elizabeth takes an fbi bullet at the end of S1 of The Americans.
You're telling me you've got Felicity gorked out on an operating table in a deserted warehouse and I'm supposed to buy that she might not pull through?
We know there are 5 more seasons, gtfo with this nonsense
