Barnes pulling off a win would have been amazing. More amazing: for over half of WI to actively acknowledge/push back on the racism & misogyny RJ brings to the table. I'm heartbroken not *just* bc Barnes lost, but that he lost mostly due to hatred & ignorance.

Before the next election, you might want to find a better way to poll anyone under the age of 30 since they would rather pick up a pinless grenade than a call from an unknown number.

In case you need a reminder of what state you live in, Wisconsinites: @_kaylahuynh just spoke with a youth voter who said his proof of residency to register was an underage drinking ticket

It had been a perfect day for Caitlyne Gonzales. The Uvalde survivor saw Beto O'Rourke, one of her gun-safety heroes, speak. She took a selfie with him, got free shirts, ate fried chicken after.
Then, on the way home, police lights flashed behind her family's car.

i regret not getting to know @JonathanTjarks better, but i’m mourning him today. it’s clear he was a wonderful friend + husband + father, and this is one the best pieces the ringer’s ever published, though it’s very hard to revisit today theringer.com/2022/3/3/22956…

This morning, I wanted to extend my most devout prayers and deepest thoughts to the victims of the bear maulings at Heritage Village Retirement Community and their friends and loved ones. This was a terrible and senseless tragedy that could not have been avoided.

At least try. Call it the No More Dead Children Act. Ban every automatic and semiautomatic weapon from consumer sale. Generous buybacks for banned guns and ammo. Extensive background checks, minimum age to purchase 21 for hunting rifles. At least try

We wrote about this specific scenario in Out of Office — the scenario I think of as "day is so filled with meetings I have to pull another work section after the kids go to bed" understanding of work

Curious @ASlavitt - since "the people around them" are encouraged to drop masks, go back to work/school/etc in person - how can we universally protect the vulnerable? My kiddo is 3 & we struggle to balance "normalcy" against safety when everyone is moving forward.
Replying to @ASlavitt
For vulnerable populations— from kids under 5 to those who are medically fragile to those who have chosen not to get vaccinated— things haven’t changed. Only the people around them have. /end
This is a huge barrier to entry for the much-needed growth of a rising MLB fanbase. And people would pay $$ to watch these games in some manner. Agree that the monopolization of in-market televised games, if it continues, will be crushing to MLB long-term.

My thing is I think all of this matters way less than the inability of the average fan (who doesn't subscribe to a very particular cable package) to actually watch in market games. That's doing more long-term harm than one ugly off season, but MLB doesn't see it as a problem
