i got tired of budgeting apps that want my bank login first. so i'm building monetor. an iphone app that shows where your month actually went: • apple pay taps captured with a shortcut • bank payment alerts logged, no bank login • receipts scanned into an editable expense • cash in a few seconds • every currency in one month • subscriptions before they renew free plan, getting ready for the app store. join the waitlist: monetor.co

sunday, laptop half open. this is the part of launching nobody posts about. no big ship. just me using my own app to log the weekend and noting every spot where it slows me down. the list is longer than i'd like. good.

sunday after launch, day log - read every reply from the week - the same question about the first screen came up more than once - rewrote the empty state copy, not the feature - shipped nothing new the cheapest fix is usually words

sunday money check, 10 minutes: 1. scroll the last 7 days in your bank app 2. mark anything you wouldn't buy again 3. pick one and make it harder next week (remove the saved card, mute the shop) one leak a week adds up fast

you don't need a budget to start. you need to see where this month is going. that's the whole idea behind monetor. no bank login. eligible apple pay taps log through shortcuts, scan a receipt, add cash. live on the app store, free on iphone: apps.apple.com/us/app/moneto…

saying no is the real post-launch skill. every reply wants a new screen. most of them would make the empty state worse. shipped means you protect what already works.

two weeks after shipping i still open monetor every morning and log yesterday's cash not because i'm testing because i still forget where the money went without looking

the best feedback after launch isn't "add this feature" it's "i opened it and didn't know what to do next" that one sentence is worth a week of roadmap

shipped. now every feature request feels urgent. most of them can wait. the product gets better faster when i fix the confusing empty state than when i add another screen.

Monetor is live on the App Store. free to download on iPhone no bank login eligible Apple Pay via Shortcuts, receipts and cash too the point is the whole month, not one tap apps.apple.com/us/app/moneto…

no bank login was a product choice, not a missing feature. starts from today. past history stays in your bank app. some people bounce. i'd rather lose them on day one than pretend we sync everything.

thursday plan - tighten the wording on what apple pay shortcuts capture vs miss - one empty-state tweak from a reply this week - ship nothing flashy post-launch days look boring from outside that's usually when the real product work happens

a week and a bit after launch the calendar is emptier than the build weeks i keep catching myself opening the roadmap and closing it without adding anything quiet isn't failure it's the product talking back through bugs and replies

a money habit that actually stuck for me: every wednesday, look at the last 7 days of spending. just look. no judging, no spreadsheet, 5 minutes. you spot the leaks way faster than at month end

most finance apps start with a budget. i think that's backwards. you can't plan money you've never looked at. show people one honest month first and the budget kind of writes itself.

a bit over a week after launch some days i open the app just to check it still works then i log a coffee, see the month so far, and close it honestly that's the whole product. a quick look at where the money went
