One of my favourite Abbas Kiarostami quotes. He captures the inherent solitude of being human. I’ve been alone my whole life and don’t see the appeal in anything else. The search for things/love/accolades is the search for God.

Gabriel García Marquez, Yüzyıllık Yalnızlık adlı kitabında, yüz elli sayfa boyunca uzun uzun betimlediği karakteri; "Bir salı günü öldüğünde yağmur başladı." diyerek öldürüyordu. Hayatın kendisi gibi.

i love a woman who has hobbies that do absolutely nothing for the internet. painting badly, growing one tomato, learning bird calls, reading about shipwrecks just for herself. not everything needs to be shared. some things are hers alone.

So true. And the verse broadly addresses love placed between groups of people who were previously hostile to each other, on wider societal bonding across communities when war was the norm as it is now. The Quran calls for deep reflection but translation often dilutes the essence.
