I don't understand why people use virtualization software while hosting applications on their homelabs. Unless you're doing something that specifically requires you to have OS-level isolation, containers are clearly a better solution, right?

one of the cool things i did to work with github actions and cron jobs is making my github profile README change itself every single day. Every day, a GitHub Action wakes up automatically, fetches a new technology-themed landscape image from Unsplash, and updates my README. It: - runs automatically every day using a cron job - fetches a fresh landscape image - makes sure it doesn't repeat the previous image - updates the image + photographer credits in the readme - commits and pushes everything automatically
