It was jarring to see how the Celtics approached their offense vs how the Hornets did. Boston was so much better with off ball movement in the halfcourt, implementing random as well as scripted movement to beat Charlotte's heavy shrink the floor scheme
Some of the hammers/flares
Early offense flare screens have been a staple for the Celtics for quite some time, making use out of their non shooting bigs to enable space for their teammates or just making it easier to flow into the offense.
Works very well vs deep dropping bigs as a drop beating option.
Action cycle vs the Chicago Bulls
- New Set Plays
- Motion Offense had a strong outing/great tempo all game
- Specifically like how Anunoby has played. Sheer aggression in the right spots. It can get him in trouble at times, but I rather that than shying away

Oso Ighodaro, doing all of the little things
Looks to seal Vuc. Nothing materializes, offense resets.
Presenting himself as a dead corner outlet, rifle option. Goes to set the hammer screen on the Booker drive as a help beater, is first to the loose ball, finds Green on the cut
77 Shallow from the Hornets, a staple in their early offense
Was logged as a miss for Coby, but this looks more like a pass off the glass rather than a shot attempt, à la Cadeau in Michigan or the couple of passes that De Larrea had in the preseason, passing off the glass.
Hornets' offense is still in the mud, but it feels like recently some of the process around postups has gotten better.
More frequent exchanges, putting better shooters 1 pass away, though being cut and movement averse once help shifts, outside of some lifts/mini relocations.
Don't recall seeing any wedge screens from the Hornets this season, but using it more as a decoy to lull the defense to sleep and flow into a Coby-Miller flat spacing PNR
Hot stove from Brandon, huge target for Coby to hit on the short roll, gets the and1 to fall.
If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time the Hornets have gone with Stagger Twirl, doing it twice against Brooklyn.
Nets ran Spanoulis 6x in the 4Q, but note how they get into it.
The first two came off wide reject. Player usually making the entry pass to delay big is the one setting the pindown, Wolf goes to the corner on the first 2. Masking it.
3 came off Slash, the last came off a SLOB.
Rarely do you see 5s coming off exit screens.
Pelicans run Ram Rolex, with Karlo Matkovic being the one coming off the exit screen. Second time they've ran Rolex this game, both times directly involving Edey in the action.
Felt like the Pelicans put a heavy emphasis on adjusting the screening angles at the last second late in the game against the Grizzlies.
Coming into the ballscreens in a more flat base, before flipping it at the last second. Works well as an aggressive/higher coverage beater.
EOQ situation, Pistons start with 12 left on the shot clock. Cade wants to involve White in the PNR
Diabate preswitches, but with so much time left, Cade calls up Robinson to screen for him.
Great burn cut read by Huerter, Miller looks to x out stunt instead of fully x'ing out.
