There are more good stuff being shipped in v3.53 as well.

Taskfiles are the best thing ever and they just got even better
I use them literally everywhere to the point where I incorporated them in my username
REMOTE TASKFILES ARE GENERALLY AVAILABLE!! 🚀
After 3 years being an experimental feature, this is now enabled by default.
You can now run and import Taskfile from a remote location, like a remote Git repository.

A contributor opened a couple PRs in @taskfile with optimizations for fingerprinting in big monorepos.
* Up to 86% faster.
* Up to 70% fewer allocations.
Open source is awesome. Coming soon!

I've been able to move more quickly with my agents by just using docker compose and a taskfile.
The agent and I work from the same local env and run task stmts that abstract docker cmds(rebuild/restart all/subset of services/infra, pull logs, run local migrations, etc). Codex/Claude get same insights/env I do, minimizes agent spinning up own env to test e2e. By adding a short prompt to leverage the taskfile over starting own env in my AGENTS.md/CLAUDE.md works most of the time, rarely if ever do I see an agent spinning up a new env.
The only real custom abstraction I did write is a little lightweight cli which leverages @traefik to allow me to use local custom domain names over ssl, and get away from localhost so I can run multiple projects at once without conflict.
It binds 80 & 443 on my host, mounts docker socket, creates a shared network. Then in each compose file I have each service join that shared proxy network and create some shared labels which traefik then discovers by watching through the socket.

Task is a model open source project: shared ownership, no egos, upstream contributions, and high standards
Nine years of that is rare
@andreynering, @v_maerten, pd93 — cheers

If your Makefile is just a task runner and not actually compiling anything, take a look at Taskfile. YAML,
cross-platform, dotenv support, no tab nonsense. taskfile.dev

Taskfile is probably one of my favourite task runners yet. taskfile.dev/ I've loved using it in my work lately.

We have released good stuff this weekend, and that includes shipping the second most 👍ed feature request of all time.
On this blog post, @v_maerten introduces the new `if:` condition, and also the ability to prompt required variables at runtime!

Wow Task has a lot of cool features!
I'm going to rewrite my CI config to use this so I can run all the same commands both locally and on CI

Protip: have you heard of Taskfiles?
A taskfile is a quick way to define common scripts inside a repository, that accelerates work across multiple repositories by developers.
It's really accelerated us at Reffie after introducing them in July.

Had a fun idea to expose tasks in a Taskfile as MCP tools. If I've already got a Taskfile telling local and CI how to build, why repeat this in another markdown doc for the agent? github.com/rsclarke/mcp-task…
