🚨🎙️Ronan Coughlan on his altercation with Max Dowman before his red card during Fleetwood’s victory against Arsenal: 🗣️ Ronan Coughlan: “I get sick when I see young players with so much pride and arrogance, but so little respect for the game. “We are Fleetwood, so what? We play in League Two, so what? It’s football, and we are here to compete too. Our league position doesn’t make us any less of a football club. “I saw him kick out at Neal, and it wasn’t a good one. I went over to check if Neal was okay, only for Max to lash out and say, ‘This is exactly why you are in League Two and we are Premier League champions.’ “I got angry and told him to shut up. Before I knew it, everyone had gathered around us, and the whole thing turned into a massive confrontation. “I accept responsibility for my reaction, and maybe I should have handled it better. But don’t ever think playing for Arsenal gives you the right to look down on us. “These lads work hard, sacrifice a lot and deserve respect just like everybody else. We might not have the money, facilities or superstar names, but we have pride. “And the funniest thing is that they came here as Premier League champions, expecting to beat a League Two side, yet we are the ones celebrating tonight. “Max needs to understand something: your badge might make you famous, but it doesn’t make you better than everybody else. Football has a way of humbling you.”

THE SMILE OF VICTORY — BUT WHAT DOES FREEDOM FROM REMAND REALLY MEAN? Harare magistrate Musaiona Shortgame has freed Marry Mubaiwa from remand in the case where she was accused of attempting to kill Vice President Constantino Chiwenga by disconnecting his life support while he was admitted in a South African hospital in July 2019. After a grueling seven-year nightmare, a wheelchair-bound Marry declared outside court: "We got justice. Ms B has done very well." Magistrate Shortgame ruled she had suffered mental, physical and financial prejudice and refused the State's application to postpone to 25 November to trace witnesses. This is where Zimbabwe gets confused, so let us balance the scales. If it happened, it was wrong and it deserved court. Attempted murder is no domestic quarrel. Section 47 of the Criminal Law Code says any person who unlawfully intends to cause death is guilty. If a spouse pulls an IV line while a man screams in agony, as Dr John Mangwiro testified, that is not love gone sour, that is a crime. But courts do not use truth, courts use evidence. It might be true she attempted it, but truth without proof is just a story in a corridor. Defence led by Beatrice Mtetwa asked: Where are the hospital notes? Where is the blood-stained T-shirt? Why did other witnesses not mention it? And when the complainant, the VP himself, does not appear after 7 years, and the presiding magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka is elevated to High Court forcing a retrial from scratch, justice collapses under its own weight. Now to those shouting she must sue: Sue who? In Zimbabwe, reporting a crime to police is protected. You cannot sue the court for trying you, and you cannot sue a complainant for reporting attempted murder unless you prove malicious prosecution under civil law — that he knowingly lied without reasonable cause and with malice. Section 61 of the Constitution protects freedom of expression, but defamation requires proving falsehood published with intent to injure. If the State summons you again by way of summons, as the magistrate allowed, you are not acquitted forever, you are removed from remand. That is not a certificate of innocence, it is a closure of delay. Marriage issues are tricky. When you have children and you have power, power tempts you to use it. In General Chiwenga's shoes, betrayal by the one who should guard your life when you cannot breathe by yourself — that cuts deeper than a bullet. Anger would make any man run to court. But in Marry's shoes, losing a marriage, losing access to children, losing an arm, losing a leg, spending seven years in and out of remand — that is punishment before verdict. The gavel did not say who is saint and who is sinner. It said: seven years is too long to keep a sick woman on remand while the State looks for witnesses. #ZimbabweNews #MarryMubaiwa #JusticeDelayed

FATHER OF THE YEAR — HERBERT CHIVHAYO WALKS THE TALK This is not wealth. This is fatherhood beyond blood. Herbert Chivhayo, the man Zimbabwe crowned Father of the Year during the painful proceedings of Sir Wicknell Chivayo, has been spotted on the surviving family page with Wicknell's children. No speeches. No show. Just presence. He told mourners at Gletwyn: "Ensure my children get most of my wealth so they grow up to remember me." Now he is ensuring they get something money cannot buy — a father who checks after the funeral tents are gone. If Wicknell was watching, he would smile. Unfortunately, heaven has no livestream. Every orphan knows the truth — real love is not who comes to bury, but who comes after burial. Who asks, did you eat, did you sleep, did you go to school? Herbert did not just inherit the microphone, he inherited the responsibility. #FatherOfTheYear #ChivhayoLegacy
