The one time I think of taking it seriously, I'm worth too much, too old, and have a spotty resume that shows me jumping from place to place. Other trajectories could be worse, and still be salvageable. Sure. But like, I just want to buy gifts for people and eat nice food.

The most important aspect of practicing the cultivation of the ego is that you need to also cultivate the egos of those around you. Otherwise you end up going self referentially psychotic. Sad to see anyone end up like that

this is just what i disagree with. the idea that all possible ends are commensurable and subject to a calculus of tradeoff. no! this would imply that the end of "preserving the biosphere" is just a matter of tradeoff with "doing luxury consumption." i reject it.

Ends don't sort into "matter / don't." They trade off. That's what prices are for, and thats why the calculation problem doesnt solve with compute or by committee. That data only exists when people trade
