Action SA will think an association with the DA will damage it.
The ANC will almost certainly now know an association with Action SA damages it.
Only one logical place this leaves us.

A thin-skinned narcissist who cares more about himself than he does about what is best for the people of this country. He proved that when he resigned as JHB Mayor in a huff, gifting the city to the ANC.

Why is this on a government statement?

The DA will emerge from the 2026 local government elections as the biggest party in the Tshwane Metro. We aimed for a complete win to end the coalition chaos. But this is not what we will get. In a democracy you have to play the cards dealt to you by the voters, and this is what we will do. We approach coalition negotiations with humility, openness, but also principled determination. Our federal leader Geordin Hill-Lewis has outlined the DAβs approach to working with other parties, and I want to encourage you to read his statement in this regard. In the meantime Iβm overjoyed by the high turnout by DA voters, our double digit growth in nearly all township wards, and opportunities created by the seismic shift in support among especially black voters. We all expected the ANC to lose support, but the size of the loss shocked even us. I once again want to thank each and every voter who chose the DA, every hardworking candidate, and every volunteer who helped on the election days. Also thank you for all the messages of support, including many of you who have told me that we are in your prayers.

Think it hard to argue that, by some distance, the most composed, calm, coherent and rational leader on the ROC floor has been Hill-Lewis. Natural statesman. Most every other leader has the air of wild populism about them. Such a contrast.

And also the province with the lowest unemployment rate
The relief you feel when you remember that you live in the Western Cape, where competence is rewarded and the leading voice in coalition negotiations isn't whoever can be the loudest, rudest and most obnoxious person on national television.

Haven't seen a party behave with as much egomaniacal arrogance after a good election as ASA has done in this, since the ANC in 2004 (and it got 69%!) Just off the charts. Any coalition negotiation able to handle this level of vainglory and conceit will be a miracle.

Incredible that a party with this kind of leadership didnβt deliver anything but self-serving corruption, criminality, violence, and misappropriation.
Who could have seen it coming?
