🇷🇺 All Russian officials are liars, but few can match Yana Lantratova, Russia’s Commissioner for ‘Human Rights,’ in sheer cynicism. ‼️Before you read her post about the situation in Oleshky, let me remind you that Lantratova has been involved in the forced deportation of Ukrainian children from occupied territories. Here’s what Lantratova posted: “I would like to respond to statements by the Ukrainian side, which, citing Ukrainian legislation, says that families with children must be forcibly evacuated from Oleshky. As Commissioner for Human Rights, I do not accept the word “forcibly.” We are talking about people who are capable of making informed decisions themselves. Everything must be done voluntarily, taking into account their interests specifically, and not the interests of the Kyiv authorities, who have suddenly become “concerned” about the people living there. If you want people to make an informed decision, give them that opportunity. Let them live in peace! Order your military to stop shelling the city every day and mining the roads. Then people will be able to decide whether to stay in Oleshky or go wherever they wish. I would also like to remind you that the city of Oleshky, in Kherson Oblast, is territory of Russia, where exclusively the laws of the Russian Federation apply, and references to Ukrainian legislation are unacceptable. Ukrainian President Zelensky said that the Russian side “must” clear all the mines to carry out this humanitarian mission. My response is: issue a direct order to your military not to shell the city and not to mine all the roads leading to it! The Russian side is doing, and will do, everything possible to provide people with the freedom to choose in the safest way possible. We hope that the Ukrainian side will not take steps to obstruct this, as has happened more than once before. I would like to emphasize once again that the main task of our humanitarian mission, which we agreed upon with Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, is to find out what humanitarian assistance the people living in the city need, assemble a humanitarian convoy, and deliver that assistance: medicines, food, hygiene products, and everything else that is necessary. All this time, Russian military personnel have been doing everything possible, risking and losing their lives, to provide people with humanitarian assistance and everything they need. They clear roads of mines after Ukrainian drone attacks. Russian doctors are also suffering losses when Ukrainian drones destroy ambulances carrying people in need of medical assistance. And, of course, another task is to ensure the departure of people who, I emphasize, make that decision voluntarily. I am in contact with the leadership of the region and the district. There are not many people in Oleshky who have expressed a desire to leave, since most of those who wanted to leave have already done so. And they left entirely voluntarily. The remaining group of people will, of course, also be given this opportunity.”
