In trading, I believe there are phases that shape you and take you to the next level. Learning technical analysis is one phase. Developing the discipline to trust your analysis and hold through drawdowns, uncertainty, and the temptation to exit before TP or SL is another. Then comes the realization that losses don’t define you; how you manage risk does. I’ve recovered from a 7% drawdown on a prop account and gone on to pass it. Experiences like that teach you that losing trades isn’t the end of the world. What matters is how you manage the risk and respond to adversity. Another phase I didn’t realize I needed was the confidence to share my trading ideas with others. I used to think it didn’t matter much, but I’ve come to understand that it does. At some point, opportunities to manage investors’ capital may come, and with them, a whole new level of responsibility and testing. When that time comes, I’ll face it not just because I have to, but because I’m building myself into someone capable of handling it. Every phase teaches you something the previous one couldn’t.
