It'd be a mistake to kill only one part of the dev fund.
If dissolved, then no half measures, dissolve it all, both the ZCG and coinholder streams. The coinholder stream accrues ~216 ZEC a day until the halving. Same problem.
Part of the reason for ZCG funding until the current ZIP was a governance balance. Part of it was to provide speculative funding for ideas that needed incubation.
Coinholder grants were a bridge away from direct funding when funding was scarce. It served its purpose.
If dev funding is no longer needed, a better market signal is the retirement of the entire fund. A half measure leaves the door open to ongoing debate and politics. Markets like certainty.
Redirect both streams to the NSM through the halving, as Sean's draft does for ZCG. ZCG honors every approved grant, then sends the rest to the NSM.
One proposed exception is a one-time endowment for a legal defense fund for Zcash developers, decided by coinholders.
Note: ZODL recently received a retroactive coin holder grant (non ZCG) for core protocol work and will apply for future grants if the fund still exists. My argument for a full, rather than partial retirement would eliminate that potential source of funding.

It's time to turn off the ZCG funding stream.
ZCG has over $125M in funding, and will receive millions more before the spigot is turned off. The program was never designed to handle this amount of funding.

IT siempre fue complicado con el tema de los Layoffs de fin de año. Ahora se siente peor porque los que tenemos 40+ estamos cansados y los que tienen 30- tienen tolerancia 0. Y tienen redes sociales para quejarse.
Y del otro lado tenes gente que odia a los de TI porque “ganan MUY bien, tienen home office y cuando van a oficinas son hoteles 5 estrellas comparado con el resto”, pocos entienden el desgaste mental brutal que implica trabajar en IT y que parte de esos beneficios nacen de una actividad con niveles de productividad y rentabilidad que otras industrias no tienen.

I oppose the dev fund, and won't comment on sex work but
I will say this group hosted an awesome event during Berlin blockchain week. Hundreds of people inside and outside of the city's crypto scene passed through the space, on-boarded to Zcash and sent transactions. They are great technical communicators who put Zcash onto a lot of people's radar and cast it in a positive light.
The space had a line out the door most nights, some people even pleading with the bouncers to get into the house transformed into a shrine to ZEC where chatter of privacy was inescapable in every conversation

The original MIT-licensed ZODL Android and Swift SDKs will reach end of support with NU7 on November 5.
Development continues on ZODL SDKs under AGPL-3.0-only, with commercial licensing available. Previously released MIT code remains MIT.

Yesterday the Zcash Foundation board named me Executive Director. Thank you to Alex for steady leadership through a tumultuous stretch, and to everyone who has reached out this week.
The job as I see it has two halves: 1) keep the infrastructure fast, secure, and boring. 2) make privacy something ordinary people use without having to think about it.
I don’t think privacy is a feature, and I don’t think it’s a niche. It’s the room a society needs to think, speak, associate, and change its mind. Any system people depend on for daily life should give them that room by default. That’s the standard I’ll hold our work to.
