The countdown is on to the 2026 Stelios Foundation North–South Business Cooperation Awards Ireland, taking place on Wednesday 28 October at Castle Leslie Estate, County Monaghan. Now in their second year, the Awards, established by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and delivered in partnership with Co-operation Ireland, recognise and reward entrepreneurs who are building stronger business links between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. With a total prize fund of €500,000, the initiative aims to promote lasting peace, economic prosperity and stronger communities through cross-border entrepreneurship and collaboration. We look forward to celebrating this year’s outstanding entrepreneurs and recognising the businesses helping to build a more connected and prosperous island of Ireland!

We have announced that the online application platform is now open for emergency financial assistance of up to €280,000 in total for the families of the deceased and missing persons of the recent maritime accident, which occurred just four miles off the northern coast of Cyprus. Through the dedicated online form, relatives can submit the required information and supporting documents for their applications to be reviewed. Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation extend their deepest condolences to the families and loved ones affected by the tragic ferry sinking off the northern coast of Cyprus on 30 August 2026. 26 people have been affected: 8 people have been confirmed deceased 18 people remain missing As a small but tangible gesture of support and solidarity, the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation will provide €10,000 to the next of kin of each person confirmed deceased, subject to the eligibility and application requirements. This represents financial assistance of up to €260,000 to the families affected by this tragedy. The support is intended to provide immediate financial relief and demonstrate solidarity with the families during this extremely difficult time. Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has been named an Honorary Citizen of Spetses in recognition of his longstanding support for the island and its community. Through the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, initiatives have included new fire engines, the renovation of the Health Centre, support for doctors serving remote Greek islands and the Food from the Heart programme. Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has announced the launch of the North–South Business Cooperation Awards, returning with a total prize fund of €500,000 to support cross-border entrepreneurship across the island of Ireland. The Awards, delivered in partnership with Co-operation Ireland, recognise start-ups building meaningful commercial links between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and aim to strengthen cooperation, innovation and job creation across both markets. Eligibility criteria include: ✅Start-ups incorporated in 2020 or later ✅Registered in either Ireland (CRO) or Northern Ireland (Companies House) ✅Active across both sides of the border with a customer base in both markets ✅Minimum turnover of €200,000 / £160,000 and at least 3 employees (excluding founders) ✅Founder/shareholder must own at least 50% of the business ✅Joint applications encouraged for companies collaborating cross-border (any sector) ✅Previous Gold and Silver winners are not eligible (Bronze winners may reapply) Full details and applications are available at stelios.ie and stelios.foundation

We have donated 550,000 cans of tomato soup to food banks within the @TrussellUK as part of our ‘Food From the Heart’ programme. Today, Sir Stelios visited Trussell’s Lambeth & Croydon Foodbank warehouse, where he met volunteers alongside Emma Revie, Co-Chief Executive of Trussell, saw the operation behind the scenes, and helped pack donation boxes for local communities.
